What do you guys think? Will it ever be full blown decriminalized in the U.S. in our lifetime? Im thinking that when my generation (Im 27) are the "old" people that sit in congress and make all the bullshit laws....by then someone will have sense enough to know what the people want.

But...there IS a lot of money to be made for them with their bogus war on drugs.

So what do you think?

I got this email from the Drug Policy Forum of Oklahoma recently. So, maybe, if we are lucky, then yes one day. But probably not soon. But if you don't like pot being illegal either go somewhere that has legalized bud or pick up the fight here. Marijuana will never be legalized as long as potheads are lazy.

The Canadian government has just delivered a body blow to the U.S.
government's irrational prohibition against the medical use of
marijuana. Today, Canada approved the prescription sale of a natural
marijuana extract -- for all practical purposes, liquid marijuana --
to treat pain and other symptoms caused by multiple sclerosis.

In short, the Canadian government has just certified that virtually
everything our own government has been telling us about marijuana is
wrong. Please visit http://www.mpp.org/donate2088 to help the
Marijuana Policy Project capitalize on this opportunity to lobby
Congress and select state legislatures to make medical marijuana
legal
in the U.S.

Sativex, produced by GW Pharmaceuticals in Britain, is literally
liquid marijuana. It is nothing like Marinol, the synthetic THC pill
sold in the U.S. and sometimes falsely touted as an adequate
substitute for marijuana. Rather, Sativex is a whole-plant extract,
containing the wide variety of naturally occurring compounds called
cannabinoids that are unique to marijuana. It also contains trace
elements of other compounds in the plant, which scientists believe
contribute to its therapeutic value.

Sativex is to marijuana as a cup of coffee is to coffee beans. If
Sativex is safe and effective, marijuana is safe and effective.

And Sativex is safe and effective. Studies have shown significant
effect against pain and other symptoms caused by multiple sclerosis
and other debilitating conditions, and over 600 patient-years of
research have established a remarkable record of safety.

Sativex should certainly be approved in the U.S., but the process may
take years -- if it is allowed to happen at all, given our federal
government's reflexive hostility to the medical use of marijuana.

And more importantly, now that we know beyond doubt that marijuana is
a safe, effective medicine, how long will our government continue to
arrest patients who use it?

Please visit http://www.mpp.org/donate2088 to give MPP the money we
need to continue lobbying to end our government's war on medical
marijuana users.

Even if Sativex is approved in the U.S. someday, it won't be the
answer for every patient now benefiting from medical marijuana.
Different strains of marijuana work better for some conditions and
less well for others. Sativex just comes in one formula, and it won't
be right for everyone.

And Sativex will be expensive. Will we force patients to buy a pricey
pharmaceutical version of a plant they could grow themselves for
pennies? We could end up with a policy every bit as silly as telling
coffee drinkers that they can buy a cappuccino, but they'll be
arrested on sight if caught in possession of coffee beans.

Visit http://www.mpp.org/sativex.html to learn more about the issues
associated with Sativex.

With Canada taking such a significant step toward recognizing
marijuana's safety and effectiveness as a medicine, it's becoming
harder and harder for U.S. officials to defend arresting and
imprisoning medical marijuana patients in our own country. Help us
hammer the nails into prohibition's coffin by visiting
http://www.mpp.org/donate2088 to make your most generous donation
today.

LOL it already IS legal in california and a few other states. it has to be prescribed by a doctor, but a list of qualifying ailments makes it possible for practically anyone to get it. here's a few of the most common ailments that qualify you for a medicinal marijuana prescription : pms (for women), anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, migraines.. this means that if you're a woman, you pretty much qualify for menstrual pain, and for men, if you're ever been in any type of accident that still causes you pain, you qualify.

Stoned I know you've been here awhile so maybe you have seen posts like this many times before, but for newbies like me it's a chance to state my opinion on this subject as I haven't seen post like this over and over.......so anyway, here is my answer

No, I don't think pot will be leagelized for anyone who wants too like alcohol is. Yes, I know that in some states you can get a medical prescription but in my state they don't even have that so with that said

I don't know and I don't care, but I'm still gonna smoke my pot anywhere! :p

the war has nothing to do with legalizing marijuana.

the first step is for the govt to allow it for medicinal needs.without abuse from money hungry doctors who will sell a script to any dumb teenager who walks in off the street.

i have no idea?all i can see is that the stories i hear in the media and all over are not as harsh about marijuana.i know that seems small and unimportant but it is big.making it legal will not happen overnight.people need to stay vigilant.its all about the baby steps.

it is gonna happen, and when it does i am gonna take out a huge lan from the bank and open a super chic "coffee shop" in downtown chicago.

though i don't agree with police

try to make smoking pot not make you say "fuck the police"

show we're reasonable people ( which we are ) but sometimes that side doesn't show.

introducing a legal act to Cannabis would be unsafe, you will get us...the people who know about weed, smoke it for our recreational/spiritual beliefs and don't go around saying "I'm so cool, i had a blunt before school and rocked up stoned and everyone knew"... If it ever was Legal you would get school kids running around with bags of marijuana and just not smokin' it and trying to be cool infront of there friends and also we would have more people in hospital then we already do because of some of the stuff we do...keeping weed decriminalized was a good idea becoz it gives us the chance to smoke and grow and do our things.

there was a story on FOX News last saturday saying that weed has become the focus of drug rehab groups more than 'hard drugs' now. that is just going to deter people from leagalizing it.

OzzyOz
05-09-2005, 10:55 PM
yeah
that's because... when people get caught with weed, they sometimes give them option to go to classes instead of pay fine. People don't go there, because they want to. Also, alot more people smoke weed now then shoot heroin or coke...

Compare weed to alcohol. Which is "worse". Does anyone know anyone who's gotten so high he's beat up his wife? Yeah right! Happens all the time with alcohol. I say domestic violence offenders just need to smoke some weed to calm them down. What do you think?
