So, I am at my sister's house and it seems a little brown mouse (I am use to the gray desert mice where I live), we will call Harry, was chased out of my room by my 7.2 pound little dog, Patches! No mouse trap. So, I got my mmj put in jars, so the little sucker doesn't call his friends out for a Thanksgiving party!
My sister leaves the garage door open and then the door to the house open, frequently. When she finds out tomorrow it is too cold outside for the Harry. I believe she won't do that anymore.
Patches chased Harry out of the room 45 minutes ago. She won't stop hunting for the smart little sucker. I watched Harry run out of the room under the door without slowing down. Patches, didn't see it, I did. She has followed its' scent all over the damn house. Now, I am trying to get her to settle down, so I can sleep.
What should I do with the dog? Can't let her run through the house all night??? Could use some help here. Can't feed Patches, Harry might get it? Thanks for the help! :stoned: pr

Get some of those glue pads and put them all around the dogs bowl. Do this after you feed the dog and get her out of the picture. You should have Harry on the glue pads.

Thanks GG, I did not know of those glue pads, but certainly a better idea than a trap. My little dog is so small I am afraid a trap would break her leg and poison, well, out of the question. I like my little dog, but she is driving me crazy. I forgot about it today and didn't do anything. She has started in already this evening. A bit busy getting stuff ready for tomorrow (cooking, etc).
Everyone have a Nice Thanksgiving! pr

I forgot something here! Now, I will have to remove the little shit! I will wear thick gloves, but will Harry bite me?

Those glue traps are horrible. The mouse gets hopelessly stuck and covered in it's own feces and urine and suffers from multiple types of violent trauma.. Often you're left with few options after getting them on the glue trap; discard the trap and mouse alive in which case it will eventually die or else you can quicken their demise by violent means. I used them once and will never use them again. If you want the thing dead there are enclosed traps that they crawl into and it slams shut killing the mouse rather than the traditional snap-bar type trap that it seems you mentioned.
Here's a site I found that mentions some other options as well as the inhumane aspects I mentioned about glue traps.
Facts: Glue Traps (http://www.idausa.org/facts/gluefacts.html)
It's getting cold, if one came inside, more will follow, probably already is more than one.

The only immediate thing that worked for me was putting the damn dog in bed with me, cause if its cold enough or there is food and as long as they can get in, the rodents will be there, somewhere. If poison and snapping traps are out and glue traps are a bit gross, try one of those plug in electronic gizmos, think maybe they're called 'Ridex'. They work ok in the spaces their in. Good luck. Happy Thankgiving.

I used to have a cat that would kill mice she was very proud of it too. She liked dogs too if you have a sociable dog a kitten will learn to blend in. My cat killed mice on her own with no training some cats just have that instinct some don't though. She killed mice outside and brought them in to me haha. One mice made the mistake of trying to build a nest in my house, she waited outside his hole for hours and got him as soon as he came out. A snake would also kill but they are not fast, even if you put a mouse in it's cage confined the snake just sits there sometimes for hours until he kills it. A cat is the best type it should be a tom cat or a small type of cat they seem to have more instinct then the fat or fluffy fur cats.

:thumbsup:O.K., good thing I posted this or I would have thoughtlessly done something that would have ultimately harmed my little dog! If she saw or got near the mouse stuck to the floor-I can only imagine what would happen. Patches is vaccinated against everything imaginable, even the doggie flu! But, rodents can carry stuff, so i don't want her to discover Harry before I do!
I now recall, I have seen little traps that you put peanut butter in and they go to the other end of a very small tube, it flops up and closes the door. I can safely put Harry back outside. If he goes in one of the bait motels, that will be his choice and PETA won't be knocking at my door.
My sister just came in from MAD black Friday shopping. People are fighting each other out there. Hopefully, Home Depot or Lowe's won't be so busy and I will get something today.
Thank You ALL for your response's and hope you all had a very nice and Happy Thanksgiving! I just finished my 'on-line' shopping. Since, I was baking and cooking all day today and most of yesterday, I am not up to shopping. Don't do Black Friday anyway! Hope those of you that do, are out having a good night shopping! pr

Harry released back into the wild! :jointsmile:Got a good nights sleep without my little Patches trying to find him! The slightess little noise in the house and she would make noise!
Went up to my shed of shit and found an old, almost "u' shaped mouse trap that captures mice. has two ends on a 'rocker' box, so to speak. It is one inch square and he walked into it, to get to peanut butter (not budder) and when he got to the pb it rocks and closed the entry end.
A safe release to find his old home!
Last night Patches slept in her bed, for the very first time, ever! I think she missed Harry and was pissed at me! Yes, I do believe animals are able to 'think.' I have bought that little dog many nice beds. She would not sleep in any and I give them away. Because, she always tells me, "I have a nice bed, YOURS!" :wtf:I wasn't sure she even knew what a 'doggie' bed was. Apparently, it is to get my attention when she is pissed! pr
