I have had these vegging for about 6 weeks, topping them several times. Last Tuesday (11/15) I switched them to 12/12.

Pot size: 1 gal (for the moment)
Soil (by volume):
_65% MG
_25% pearlite
_10% sand
Soil PH: 6.4
Water PH:6.8 (before nutes are added)
Seed: Bag seed
Feeding: Expert Gardner (MG knockoff) - 24/8/16 now @ 2X recommended level every time I water.
Lights: 400w MH - will go to 1200w (12x24w/100w) CFL within 2 weeks

I have a couple of plants already occupying my flowering boxes, but I will harvest them within the next 2 weeks and move these in under the CFL's as soon as I do. I'll start using "Super Bloom" (12/55/6) fertilizer as soon as they make the move, starting at 1½ the recommended level and working up to 2X. I foliar feed daily and they're already getting the Super Bloom" through the foliage now.

They're not root bound yet, and when I move them I'll transplant them to 3 gallon pots. I think they're looking pretty healthy and each have at least 8 healthy stems growing. The main stem going down is thicker than a pencil. Unfortunately, they have not clearly displayed their sex yet, but everything is looking female as far as I can tell at this point. (I do have one backup growing in case I need it.)

The generation to follow this has already been decided and ordered. That'll be Master Kush from Nirvana. I'm through with bag seed.

Looking good man! Hope you dont mind me pulling up a chair. Welcome to indoors!

Pushit without your help I'd have simply wasted a few seeds in the wrong soil and never gotten anywhere near buds on my first crop. Your expertise and input are certainly welcome. I'll be picking your brain again soon - I see that coming, so don't be suffering too much short term memory loss!

But I got a question for ya. I see you're in loosey-anna. Be you one of dem Cajun shea? I ask because lived in Gretna from '73 - '05 when Katrina said I had to leave. I had a shotgun 2 blocks from the Zatarain's plant and computer shops throughout metro NOLA and the northshore. 32 years spent on the NOLA westbank. I'm as about as much an imported cajun as they come. The people here think crawfish are BAIT?!? Shows their mentality. Being transplanted back here is painful! I need a good mudbug boil and some fishing time back in the brown water of the bayous with a couple of big dooobies and a box of specks to recuperate.

Now, I'm back in central jawja where I was raised.

I'm sure glad to see you here too GaGrown. Yea, we've been in the same damn red clay. I thought I got away from it in '69 when i went in the military, but somehow I've ended back in it again. Unfortunately, the quaint worthless city I left then has been taken over by the thugs now, so life's much different here now than it was back then.
>It's worse!<

I have flowered some northern lights with mh some years ago. I was a rookie back then but i remember i got a good yeild of thick buds. If your flowing space is full go ahead and flower under mh. Maybe add some 2700k cfl on the side for a little red spectrum.I flower normally with hps/mh combination. I knew a guy that used mh all the time and he had great yield .

Ive only lived here for about 4 years or so. I kinda grew up down south but pretty much lived all over the US. Im probably the only person youll ever hear saying "you guys" and "fixen" in the same sentence haha. This year was the first year that we didnt do our annual crawfish boil. We usually get around 300lbs and cook, drink, and eat all day long. If your eyes and nose isnt running while youre eating them, they need to simmer longer haha

Hey GIG, any new pictures for us?

The ones up there were just taken yesterday. So not yet, but there will be more. I also have access to a couple of domains that I can stick a few images in that are in high (14megapix) resolution. They run about 5 megs apiece. When the time comes, I'll use a few of those.

Glad to see ya dropping in PR....

I love to fish, but alas - there is no real fishing in the state of Georgia. (Pushit should know what I'm talking about!) I'm accustomed to using these cocahoe minnows you call 'fish' here, as bait to catch real fish. (See attached) I'm sure you can understand the reasons for blurring out my identity in them.

Now, as far as a boil... I have the burner, tank and pot, but I burned my gas line and have to replace it. But remember... I lived in cajun country for over 30 years and developed an real affinity for both eating AND cooking cajun style. I also developed a teats the spices and seasonings involved in creole/cajun cooking. I can make it as mild or as hot as you can stand it. I prefer the highly seasoned (a.k.a. HOT!) end of the scale and my philosophy is "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Can you handle the seasoning?

 I did it. :wtf: It was all my fault.

I turned the fans off last night just after the lights came on so I could use the microscope without having to fight the wind. Then I forgot to turn the fans back on, sooooo.... I let the heat get to the plants. They're currently under 12/12 of 400w MH and with my old unit the bulb connects directly to the ballast. It's a vertical job in which the bulb hangs under under the ballast and the whole thing connects to a chain. This configuration creates so much heat that heat still becomes an issue even with all the fanning I can do - which is a 20" box fan!!!

As you can see below, they're drooping real bad. I 'might' have cooked them. I dunno. I'm not going to give up on them without at least trying to save 'em. I do have 6 weeks or so invested in vegging, and topping them. But then, what would you expect? As my signature says, I can screw up ANYTHING!

I moved the microscope out of the room, so at least that excuse for turning the fans off will be removed. Of course I've turned the fans back on, and be damned if I'm going to turn them off again for ANY reason. I'm pretty sure the plants will survive, but now we go into "Shock Recovery" mode for a week or so.....

 Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!

Needless to say, I am NOT a "happy camper"... I've just watered them well, (watered, not fed) turned the fans on and now all I can do is wait. All of the wilting seems to be predominately at the bottom, so maybe.... just maybe.... I'll be lucky enough to save them.

Oh well, shit happens and if they die - well... that just gives me a reason to get some Master Kush planted a little earlier than I expected. The MK seeds have been ordered.... :) I'm just waiting for them to arrive.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

If you know how to filet the wings those sting rays make some damn fine eating. They're sold every day as "clams" to the tourists.

Just like boiled sheephead is seasoned and sold to tourists as "lump crab meat".... yea....

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

GIG,
You can solve some of the heat issues, other than neglect.. Not funny, huh? You can turn that Hig Bay ballast into a remote ballast. Seperate the mogul from the ballast body and mount it to a hood. Wire the hood and the ballast back together with 12/2 wire. Then you won't have the ballast heat. Set it outside the room. That magnetic ballast has different temps. at different times when it's on.

They'll pull through! I got faith in ya!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

Being aware that I can screw up ANYTHING, is this something that (like) requires soldering or other such 'difficulties'? I'm not (per say) 'scared' of a solder gun, and I have one. Actually, I'm pretty good at soldering, having been a bench tech and computer shop manager/owner for 30 years. I'm just scared of the unknown and what I could be getting myself into.

You can also do ANYTHANG! It's no big deal. No soldering.. Just wirenuts and a fitting on the ballast case. You want a diagram for it? If your still not sure.. Then purchase another off ebay and practice with it. You'll not put your grow at risk by being without a light. What good is that? No light! OH SHIT!

Your gonna be able to do it! I'll get you a parts list and Diagram. It really would help your situation. You could even use a smaller fan in most cases. Depends on the space really.. Bigger is better when it comes to ventilation.

After 12 hours and a little water, they're back loud and proud!

However.... I am speculating that one is a male. It's out stripping the other two in height as well as showing a lot of very small new growth along the stems... From my (limited) past experience growth like this in indicative of a male plant.

But that's OK. :) I have a third that is growing nicely ready to step in and take the place of any male. I can only HOPE that only one of the three are male.

Once again, Pushit calls it dead on the money. Pushit, how much do you know about horses? I may need to take you to the track with me. I wouldn't complain hitting an exacta or two!

None of them have clearly shown their sex yet. And I'll put up pictures tomorrow.

The way I see this one of four things will happen.

Door A: You're a cop and I'll get busted.
Door B: I'm a cop and you'll get busted.
Door C: We're both cops and we'll laugh about this sitting at the donut shop.
Door D: Neither of us are anything other than a couple of stoners and nobody gets busted.

Now from my perspective it's either door A or door D. If it's "A" then the state gets to deal with all of my medical issues and they'll have me back out on the streets in less time than it takes to say "Roll a joint!" They cannot afford the expense of my medical treatment any more than I can. I'm 100% disabled, my insurance is Medicare and my primary source of income is Social Security DISABILITY Insurance. And no... I'm not 62½ nor eligible for Social Security yet - although I'm getting there. If it's "D" then we'll both sit around with the bong, do a lot of laughing and become thoroughly medicated.

So what do I have to lose?

Now, when you gonna get Skype set up? You don't "have" to have a video camera for it to work and I usually don't even turn mine on. 35 miles? Shit, you could come over this afternoon and try some of the creole green beans that I'll be starting to cook in a few minutes.

Ya know that "third" plant I was holding in "reserve" in case one of the other two turned out to be a male? Well, last night I checked for flowers and (drum roll) of COURSE I found pollen pods on that "third" plant. I cut his testicles off last night right before I went to bed..... At ground level. SHIT! or should I say SNIP?

So that brings me down to two plants{again}... All I can do is HOPE that one that suddenly started growing - height wise - ends up proving me wrong and is a female.

Now understand, it's not the end of the world if all three turn out to be males. I have more soil, more nutes, and plenty of time to start over. I just hate finding out that I have wasted the time I have already invested by vegging males plants. Well, that IS why I grow the "extra" one.

I guess it's time to start learning about cloning. I can take what I have vegging - which actually isn't vegging anymore since - I took the lights in the veg room to 12/12 and start cloning one of them as soon as they prove to be female. Not that I'd actually GROW the clones... I'd just be doing it to learn the process and become half way proficient at it so I can clone the MK when those seeds arrive. I already top my plants to produce at LEAST 4 main stems, so stripping one of them to learn about cloning shouldn't be that big a deal. {Can you see I'm trying to talk myself into raping one of these females for clones?} All it will take is a 'little' patience to see which one of these, or should I say IF one of these are female.

Say Pushit - do you buy "standard" seeds or feminized seeds? If you're buying feminized seeds, what's your success rate on them actually proving to be female? I seem to be reading mixed reviews on feminized seeds. I bought "standard" on these MK - simply because I get 10 seeds instead of 5 for less money, and I'm not experienced enough to want to throw an extra $7 at something that I may very well kill anyway.

And how the hell do they determine the sex of seeds in the first place?

Oh well.... I saw a thread on cloning and how to make a "bubble cloner' somewhere in here. I guess I better go and start reading up on it.

And GaGrown: I think I gave up my rights a long time ago - or I never knew about them to begin with, cause no one has ever been supplying me with weed. I've always had to buy anything i wanted to smoke. I dunno about street prices where you are, but mid-grade mexican brown headache weed is going to $30 a quarter here now. And you'll be real lucky to actually see a full quarter. To think, I paid, $10 an OZ in Cal in the early 70's and $5 for a grocery bag in S.E. Asia, then $200 a key in Texas in the late 70's. Now headache brown is $120 an OZ??? Well, that doesn't surprise me 'that' much as when I left Ga in 69, a matchbox was a "dime bag" here - and of questionable quality.

It's amazing how much pricing fluctuates depending on where you are. I thought the prices I saw on TV from the dispensaries in Cal was out the box. But now, as I look at the cost of seeds, soil, nutes, and equipment to grow that medical grade stuff, I can why they're as high as they are.

Oh well, time to wake the wife. Be safe, stay stoned and I'll be watching my email all day <again>....:rasta:

GaGrown

Let me give ya a tip as to not veg males. Take cuttings from your vegging plant. Label each plant and corresponding cutting. Flower the cuttings. Then you'll know which is male or female. If they all turn out female then you doubled your plants. Marijuana Multiplication.

I'm gonna get the skype done.

So I castrated it at ground level too. The one that suddenly took off growing tall that I speculated on.... Well, my speculation was right.

Fouchone huh? I usually fished the canals out of West Pointe a La Hache or the jetties off of Venice. Never fished Fourchone myself. Too far to drive. I only went to the island once. I liked the brown water fishing and that straight drive down LA-23 - which was the corner, ½ block from my house. Especially at 3 or 4 in the morning towing my boat - not having to even turn any corners was nice. but then going down LA-1 or 308 wasn't bad, once you got off of 90 and on them. I just usually screwed up in that interchange around Houma somewhere.

Two things. Re-veg is awesome my friend just left some bottom buds on and put em back on 24. There monsters. Make shure you got room. And second be careful with suspected males, the Bible says that if the cylax are on tiny little stems its male... I had 2 like that I killed one but the other sprouted hairs. I wish I had the other one back. I'm waiting till I'm positive next time out. I'm new to this but out of 20+ plants I ain't had a male yet. Not entirely convinced they even exist LOL

Naah... I don't call it a male until I see pollen pods. Believe me, they DO exist! Cylax examination isn't reliable enough. Those WERE males that I ripped out. And it pisses me off to have do so. In my latest germination I had two out of three that were males. ARRRGGGH!!

But I'm fixing to put an end to that shit. I'm going to re-veg this big female and then clone it! That way I'll have a bunch of little sisters to flower until my MK seeds arrive and I can sex them.

15 days into 12/12 flowering. Plant #1 (of 2) This is that "autoflowering" seed that showed up in the bag.

The only change is in the feeding. They're now getting "Green Light Super Bloom' which is 12/55/6 at double strength every time I water them instead of the 'Miracle Grow knockoff" from Walmart.

This girl is thirsty, but she got fed/watered tonight. They both receive folier feeding every couple of days in addition to root feeding..

The more I look at this plant the more it looks like a very recognizable strain. But I wouldn't be THAT lucky.

15 days into 12/12 flowering.

Santa Claus is gonna come see you!:stoned:

I'll believe that when I see it, considering he doesn't answer emails, doesn't return phone calls and doesn't answer his phone.

In fact, after my last attempt to contact him, I gave up and don't even intend to try any more.

And they "look" like there are 2 different colors of leaves on the plant. Not true. The leaves are all the very healthy green that shows in the bottom leaves. I'll have to shoot a couple of pics straight down on the flower. The flower shape, the long slender sucker leaves developing to feed the bud. I look at it and it just seems to scream 'widow' at me.

Now wouldn't THAT be a pleasant surprise...

Well here are a couple of pics after 28 days under 12/12 of 600w CFL. Look at the size of that main stem! It's thicker than a pencil and budding from the ground up!
