What should be done if the roots get quite long (6"-9") during cloning before being transferred to soil. The clones are in starter plugs and are being transferred to 4" pots with a soil mix. Do I just leave the roots long and lay them into soil or is it a good idea to trim them back? Thanks.

No need to trim, the more the merrier! I've had them get way too long in a cloner, never an issue leaving them long. Just be gentle when packing the pot.

Never trim or cut or damage any of your roots it will cause stress and the plant will grow slower for awhile till it recovers!
