hi, this is my first grow and both my first 2 plants have problems. the first is a deformed plant, and has brown blotches on the leaves, and the second is a seedling which at one point fell over and wasnt noticed till morning. it seemed to have pulled thru but today a grey type of fungus has sprung up on the outer part of the first nettle leaves. also the leaves have curled up. im not sure if its fungus r what as i have no experience with growing :( there under a 400 hps at 24inches, in a room 3x3x7. humid is at 55 and temp 80-88f. just being fed water, altho i did flush soil 1 with 1/4 strength nutrient. ph is 6.5 for soil and 5.8-6.0 with rockwool. any help wud be greatly apprecieated. thanks

Rockwool is bullshit.

Ive never had good luck with it, and as I understand more about it, i've learned its not worth useing. I myself germ in pro mix, but thats also my end medium.

find a way to not use rockwool.

never had any problems with rockwool... 95% success with clones and 100% with seed germination..

I know you use it but you are a rare exception in my mind....I hate that crap. The Ph is always drifting around the rootball and it alway's stores nutrients that throw off something and then there's trouble and something goes wrong.

How goes the grow anyway dude?

People this guy has a DVD he sells that has a lot of information you should know. Seeing information from the boards on TV and how it works in the end is better then a book.

I too use pro-mix and i intend to use it thru out the entire grow.

Marlboroman, is that what you are doing...from seed to flower?

About the stem. Mine seem to always turn red and change later. So I dunno if it's supposed to happen or what but it seems to be fine.

quick question about ppm. my ro water is 70-80 ppm at stock, once ive added a little superthrive and 1/4 nuts its on 160. now ive read elsewhere you shud aim for 650-750. how am i supposed to reach that, and if i shhudnt, what is a gd number. i only fed 1/4 strength. before reverse osmosis my water is at 340ppm. plz help im realy confused. thankyou

here is the site with the DVD GK has. http://www.SeeMoreBuds.com

To try to answer your question, first Superthrive is an enhancer (supplement) and not a full NPK type of nutrient. I don't use anything but a week NPK in that stage like a 1-1-1 formula. First thing is to take your Ph & PPM reading and record it (you will not remember) Then you add your nutrients to reach your desired level of NPK mix. Then you record that PPM reading, subtract the starting PPM and you have your NPK number. Adjust the Ph and let it settle. Then you add your enhancers (supplements) to your formula. When you are looking for a PPM number it's normally refers to NPK fertilizer. The supplements people use very so don't get the nutrients mixed up or you may under feed your plants and that has problems too. It will give you false readings on the leaf and make you think you are overfeeding in one area when in fact you are underfeeding in other areas. The only real true way is to check the nutrient content inside the leaf using a Brix meter. Hardly anyone uses one, and I only use mine when there is a big problem or Iā??m trying something new. I posted a chart somewhere that has the feeding formula for GH nutrients. If you canā??t find it let me know and Iā??ll post it again.
