I haven't smoked in over 2 years, then about 2 months ago I started smoking again and I smoked roughly a bowl a day for about 2 weeks straight. Then I was given a great career opportunity and so I stopped smoking knowing I'd have to take a drug test. By the time I took my drug test last week it had been 27 days since I last smoked.

I'm 5'6, 160lbs and I have a great metabolism. I work construction so I'm in the Florida heat all day everyday sweating my balls off. Initially I was told my a couple co-workers that I had nothing to worry about b/c I sweat so much but now after I've researched that I'm starting to second guess it. I didn't do anything special in order to pass my test, I just assumed that 27 days was enough time to get the THC out of my system. I do drink a lot though. I drink a minimum of 80oz of soda, 50oz of Gatorade and 40oz of water a day.

I took the test on Friday and now it's Thursday and the company stated they don't know what's taking so long so I'm beginning to think I didn't give myself enough time to clean out. With those variables in mind, do you think I'm OK and it shouldn't have showed up in my urine or am I in trouble that I didn't attempt to dilute it? Any help is appreciated.

Since you knew you had a test coming up, you shouldve picked up a THC test kit and tested yourself 3 days before the scheduled U/A.

I didn't do anything special in order to pass my test, I just assumed that 27 days was enough time to get the THC out of my system. Bad move. Never assume. How many days a person takes to rid the body of THC depends on the persons body chemistry and numerous other factors. Never rely on "detection timetables", assumptions, and guesswork from others as they are almost always off the mark. Its your career opportunity and your future thats on the line, so periodically test yourself so you know for sure.

With those variables in mind, do you think I'm OK and it shouldn't have showed up in my urine Nobody can give you a realistic and accurate answer to that. Each persons body is different and there are too many variables to take into consideration to arrive at a guesstimation. Only periodic testing with a THC test kit can give you that answer.

Yea I really hope I didn't screw up. I have a fantastic metabolism, I eat nothing but sweets and fried food all day everyday so hopefully that combined with me working in the sun and sweating doing strenuous work all day helped burn the necessary fat to get the metabolites out if my system. Hopefully I'll hear something today and if so i'll update this.

If you did any exercise 3 days or less prior to the scheduled U/A, that can work against you, particularly if your prior home THC tests show a positive.
THC is stored in the fat cells. Anytime you burn fat cells for energy, the stored THC metabolites are released back into the bloodstream. From there, the kidneys filter the THC metabolites from the bloodstream and deposits them into the bladder for the eventual exit. This is the main reason why THC carries a longer detection period than other types of drugs.

For those 3 days, youd want to avoid all fat-burning activities and be as dormant as possible to avoid releasing a bunch of THC metabolites into the bloodstream, which will end up in the urine to be detected.

Sweating is hardly of any help because very little THC is excreted via sweat. You can sweat enough to fill a bathtub, yet the amount of THC being excreted thru sweat would still be miniscule. The rest are being excreted via the urine and bowels.

That's the other part of this that makes me worried, I was working every day and on the day I took my test I did so on my lunch break. It was my 3rd urination of the day and it was not diluted in the slightest bit, I was in a hurry to get out and get back to work that I barely was able to fill half cup, even though I drank 3 cups of water while sitting there, so my urine was dark yellow and probably included everything my body was filtering out at the time. Unfortunately, my gut tells me I've failed this test.
