Hey guys. Been searching and reading on this site for a couple days now to see what's what, and figured I'd try my chance at getting some questions cleared up....if you don't mind.

First of all, let me disclaimer the hell out of this first. This whole thing seems very sensitive and touchy to me. It may be warranted, it may not, but I just don't want to come across as a 19 year old kid (no offense to those of you who are 19) just looking to "score some weed". I'm a 28 year old, hard-working, tax-paying responsible adult and just hoping to get some advice without stepping over any lines. My intentions are good. So here goes.

For the past.....year or so, I've had some pretty constant back and knee pain. The knee pain is more the constant where the back just comes and goes. I have bad posture, so the back pain may be my fault. No matter what I've tried with my knees, from stretching to exercise to hot/cold pads and even special thermal herbal-infused wraps, nothing eases the pain I get in my knees. It's bad when going up stairs, but it never really goes away. Always the dull ache. I've tried just about everything, except one. I heard medicinal marijuana may help with chronic pain and I'm willing to give it a try. I have smoked before a few times in my teens, but never for medicinal purposes. I hate the whole pharmaceutical riff-raff and quite frankly, they don't sit well with me. Over-the-counter does nothing, and thus, I'm left with this option. I'm intrigued.

Is the above mentioned "ailments" reason enough to go see a Doctor? And will said Doctor agree that MMJ may indeed work for me? I know everyone is different etc., but is MMJ for much worse problems than mine? Am I just being a wimp and should just suck it up? Any advice as to go about this will be greatly appreciated. Again, I hope I didn't cause any strife, and thank you in advance.

p.s. Reason I'm posting this under Colorado thread is because I'd like some local advice as I live in the Springs.

God Bless
Matt

Your ailments certainly qualify. If I were you, I would find some quality marijuana from a friend and test it out on your pain before going to the trouble of getting your card, which involves some time and expense. There's no sense jumping through the state's hoops until you know marijuana will help your pain.

One piece of advice: for many patients, including me, the principal benefit of MMJ is not that it makes pain and nausea go away, but that it provides a distraction. If you live with back pain, you know that it seems to get worse when you dwell on it. Ditto nausea. Pot can make living with pain or nausea more bearable for many, simply by distracting one's attention from the ailment.

I agree with the above poster! I've had everything from turned ankles, cracked ribs, fractured tail bone etc. and I can't say MMJ does anything for the actual pain! Ibuprofin works well for chronic pain but it's poison to your kidneys and liver, I take it when the pain becomes intense. Topical ointments work well, ask your Dr. about Voltran Gel.

medical marijuana is blowing up. You shouldn't have any problem obtaining a medical authorization. Natural Medicine is the Best Medicine
