Sat 8-20-11
Began germination of about 20 "bag weed" seeds by wet paper towel method...

Tue 8-23-11
-Found 8 sprouts growing and planted into 16oz plastic cups using a combination of Miracle grow potting soil (non-organic), perlite, vermiculite and peat moss (all things I had on-hand)
-Prepared grow area in a 70in x 25in x 20in Sterilite storage cabinet from Walmart Sterilite 4-Shelf Storage Cabinet, Putty - Walmart.com (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-4-Shelf-Storage-Cabinet/8206253) (I'm beginning to question whether or not this will be big enough for the project)
-Using a 7800k grow light from Walmart and a 17w drop light for added intensity until I can afford better lighting

Weds. 8-24-11
Found 2 sprouts peaking above the soil...

Thurs 8-25-11
3 more sprouts have come to life, 2 of which have nice serrated leaves which look healthy and vibrant (2nd from the left and 2nd from the right in the pic)

Fri 8-26-11
-Checked soil for moisture and it seemed really dry. Watered with tap water by pouring slowly into the soil, saturating and allowing to drain . I don't have a ph tester so I hope it's within range.
-Placed a fan on the outside of storage cabinet facing the crack between the doors and pointed slightly upward. I don't have a digital thermometer yet but it seemed a bit warm.
-Noticed that two of the plants do not yet have the serrated leaves, but are rather tall compared to the rest of the sprouts. I'm not sure if this is genetics or technique.
-Still waiting on 3 of the cups to show signs of growth (3 cups shown in the background of pic)

Here is a current pic of the project--Day 6 (not sure of the best way to post photo's yet, advice would be appreciated)

I had a sprout that only had embryo leafs at first, also. Up untill about a month old, it looked like a mutant. It was growin abnormally and shit. Then it started to llok like it should, and ended up bein my biggest, best looking plant. Shame it turned out to be male. Its gonna stretch a lil bit more than the rest, cuz it doesnt have leafs, so its reachin to the light, to get as much as possible. I would get a drinking straw and some twist ties, or something cuz you are probably gonna have to support to stem, as the increased height will make it fall over. Other than that, you will be fine. It may have a better chance of bein male, tho, cuz of all the stress it is goin thru. This is all wisdom I learned from members of this site, so soak up everything you can from em, and read till your eyes bleed!
