Hi There! I am in Florida which does not support Medical MJ. I am currently applying for disability due to DJD in my spine and extremities. I am on Retirement Disability from the state and LTD insurance. I am currently on the appeal level having been denied twice. I have a lawyer who is funded through my LTD. I had to move from one location to another county to afford any type of housing. I found a new doctor who took sliding scale payments for treatments, after going through Lortabs 10 mg 3 times a day and getting little relief she sent me to a pain clinic. I walked in the door and they tested me and it came back positive for cannibis, the doctor prescribed Percocets for me, and every test after that was negative. But the Percocets were useless and more expensive, so I told the doctor that I couldn't afford him and went back to my primary doctor. Everything was cool for about three months and then my doctor received records from the pain clinic stating the first positive result. Now she refuses to prescribe narcs of any kind, and I have to go back to the pain clinic. I have been putting off letting my Insurance company request records from the primary care doc in fear that the positive results will make them drop me and deny my SSDI...any suggestions...it is getting really expensive trying to find new docs etc...I am not a regular user, I just happened to be involved at a party that week where MJ was the highlight at the time. Need solid advice. Thanks for reading.

I am in Cali and discovered that Florida spends $30. for every drug test on well over 12% of the people that apply for public assistance. And they are only finding 2% of the people that test positive. In effect, they are spending more money and finding less. I expect, if someone does the math, eventually the law may change, with any luck.

Other than that, if you want to medicate with mmj, you may choose to move to a medical friendly state.

Since, you tested positive once and not since. It is most likely they will just keep testing you.

You will need a lawyer to get on SSDI anyway, so get started and your lawyer needs to know. And appeal any decision that would not be in your favor. Unfortunately, you should stay clean until you get the assistance you need and then move!

It is simply a bad situation. I personally feel: This is a violation of your rights as a human being. However, that is not the question.

Good luck to you. You are not the first person in Florida with the problem and surely, your lawyer can best advise you. PR
