Greetings y'all I came across this information and i dont remember where. I read this article that US govt holds a patent on cannabis. What does that mean??? does that mean when cannabis becomes legal and the govt "owns" cannabis then does the govt only one have exclusive right to grow, breed and distribute, of course to profit?? or this patent is just for research purpose solely?

this somewhat reminds me of monsanto

happy toking y'all

i havent read anything about this subject, but as a paranoid and concerned american citizen I have assumed that the feds will horde the genetics and change them. You wanna make marijuana a "drug", give it to american government and let them fuck with it.

I would assume this would be the wrong place to ask, given most are pretty much stealth around here. Yet, the right place to post the answer. There is a legal/medical sight that you can ask questions: It is called AVVO.com: I believe. If I am wrong, I'll come back and re-post. Be interesting to hear the results! Excellent question and certainly one that raise's a concern. AS, we do know the Gov't can fuck up anything and they were and still do dispense to some, not all. There is a person in my county in CA that gets his supplies from the Gov't as he was a "guinea pig" with a disease they experimented with and he is one of few still alive! Wouldn't that be cool to get USDA HOMEGROWN for free!! PR

PR- thanks for pointing me to right direction. I shall ask them the same question as aforementioned.
That dude living in your county is definitely lucky SOB for getttin freebies.

For everyone who never heard of this patent, then the patent is US Patent 6630507 titled as "Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants".

Happy Growing y'all!
