Those of you who have followed my logs in the past have seen pics of my "guard" dogs and know how I feel about them. Yesterday we had to put Seven (12 1/2 year old Rottie) to sleep as he finally lost his battle with bone cancer and whatever else was wrong that we could not afford to find out about. I tried to get him up and he could not get his rear legs under him. No stand, walk or anything. Food and water didnt want to stay down either. If some of you think it is stupid for me to post about a dog that is fine by me just dont tell me about it. I dont have many "friends" here in RL so I turn to my friends here on the Boards.
Later Seven, you will be missed with great sorrow but never forgotten!

Beautiful pup sorry you had to put him down but 12 1/2 yrs is a good old age for a Rottie
I had to put mine down when he was almost 14 a few years back he was a purebred & I loved him like my own child
I bought him from the breeder when he was 10 weeks & wouldnt change a minute I had with him
I dont think its dumb @ all posting this their part of our families
Peace for Seven in Rottie Heaven

Absolutely nothing wrong with sharing the loss of one of your best friends....
Reminds me of my cousins rottie they had for almost 12 years.... My aunt and uncle got it when my cousin and I were just 5 years old.... She lived until we were in High School.... I'll never forget that dog and she wasn't even mine....
Sorry about your loss....

No need to apologize, my mom had to put her dog down after 12 years and it was like losing a member of the family.
Sucks to hear that. I've been blessed with three good dogs in my life and it's always hard to lose one. My dog is my best friend, poses for me in pics, accompanies me on walks, waits outside for me in the rain, she'll even gobble down a nugget! Don't know what I'm going to do when I lose this one.
Here she is, 3 years old Presa Canario.277212
