Subterainian termites are the worse f-ing bugs you can get in your garden! Beware by the time you notice anything, damage has already commenced and is extremely rapid! I still have not been able to get rid of them. I stand to lose a very nice garden. I can't find anyone who has successfully saved a grow after they found it infected. Like I said, by the time it is noticed, you only have a few days to save the plant. I don't have the option of digging them up, most are already over 5ft and some 7 and 8ft + there are to many to digg up anyways. If it comes down to it I will cut enough to do indoor untill I solve this Termite problem.
Anyone else live around the Sac area have termites? You may have thought it was fungas knats, some kinda root rot, even seems like they are nutrient overdosed but when you pull whats left of the stump out of the soil, you can see the damage is very evident. They dig holes, eat the inside and leave the main healthy roots so the plant stands tall and proud untill it's very last days.
I have lost 4 plants already.
I gotta go check on em again.
Anyone know what to do? If you have successfully killed termites and saved your MMJ plants, I would be more greatfull than you would ever imagine!!!

I haven't had termites, but whenever I plant in the ground or in pots outdoors I always add diatamatious earth to the mix.
Diatamatious earth is an organic means of controlling ground based bugs as the sharp edges of the microscopic little pieces cut up the skin of the bugs and otherwise make for a very unpleasent habitat. I have had problems with grubs and other roots based bugs befor using diatamatious earth in my mix, and this seams to cure it. You can pick up diatamatious earth in wal-mart or anywhere else that sells pool supplies.

I wonder if adding an insecticide to your water would work? At this point it probably couldn't hurt.
