What happens when a sample is reported as diluted? This drug test would be a random for my job. Not a DOT or probation u.a. Could I get fired based on the fact that I drank alot of water? I have substituted with synthetic in the past successfully but usually try to dilute also as a backup measure. Is this a bad idea?

If youre an existing employee and not a pre-hire, you cannot be discharged for providing samples that are "negative-diluted". In fact, it is an OSHA requirement for employers to provide means of hydration and to ensure that the workers are well-hydrated (especially in fields which a majority of work is performed outdoors).

Now if your sample came back as "positive" as well as "diluted", now thats an entirely different story.

Thanks Burnt Toast! So would it be the lab that tests the sg and creatinine or would they know immediately and want a retest right away?

Thanks Burnt Toast! So would it be the lab that tests the sg and creatinine Yep, the lab will perform the integrity checks as well as the actual drug check.

or would they know immediately and want a retest right away? Nope. Only the employer can order a retest. The lab MRO just reports the test results to your employer and your employer will go from there.
