IS anyone using any kind of mister in their garden during the peak of the hot season? I bought a generic ground mister that is about 4 feet high, put it in the middle of my garden hoping it may keep it a bit cooler during these hot days.

Is there any drawback to using one of these? It's hot enough once I turn it off the water evaporates pretty quickly and I do notice some water accumulation in a few of the planters but they all drain well.

Possible drawbacks?

Have you noticed any leaf burns from the water magnifying the sun?

It sounds like a good idea. Id only use it while its the hottest part of the day , and make sure the plant dries before dark. If you play with the distance you might not have to get the plant wet at all. As the water drops evap they absorb energy (heat) so Make sure the drops evap before hitting you plant and you will still get the cooling effect. The wind also has to be blowing the right way if there is any, to make sure the cooled air blows across your plant..

Well aside from a few day's the summer has been fairly mild here. I tried the mister but my grow area was pretty tight and the plants were getting soaked and I ended up with a few burned leaves. I expanded my area today so I can hold a few plants for some friends for a few weeks, I'm going to see if having more room for the mist to eveaporate will help. Also having some mites so the humidity may help with that as well.

Just make sure that mist doesn't reach the light, could explode...

I doubt the mist is gonna reach the sun. Nor do I think it would explode if it did. Lol.

misters arent necessary as long as its not too hot. if it is (like arizona) use a black screen for shade and water those roots thouroughly.

Missed the outside bit but I used misters in my greenhouse without bad effect. The mist seemed to evaporate before causing burn....
