Here we go again!

Five OG Larry Clones have been clipped and decontaminated from black and white spider mites. Red mites were also found on house plants and have been isolated to a patio and treated chemically.

Here is a pic of my first OG Larry.

Yay glad your doing a new log :) What a buggar about those damn mites, I really hope they're gone from your grow room. Dreadful wretched critters.
Your new kids are going to bolt under those lights. I'm pulling up a chair to watch :)

What a buggar about those damn mites, I really hope they're gone from your grow room.

After today; I can't believe anything would be alive!

I've spent three days in this killer heat working on upgrades; today was the hottest. By the weekend I should be ready for pics of the new setup. Designed closed pots with watering tubes and soil moisture meters. This will isolate the canopy from all water and soil to help keep a sterile room.

Cooler weather due in a couple days...

Fingers are crossed for you to get that cooler weather. Half of me is jealous of the heat, its supposed to be summer here but its chilly and raining. Looks like you get the same low humidity as I also have even after I've hung up wet towels. I ended yp buying a small humidifier for the veg room to help but I don't worry about the bloomers.

How are the clones going now a few days on?

The clones just could not stand up to that kind of heat. OG Dead Head survived. Here comes the new lineup!

This rack is my standard rack. Both units are similar in build but use different LED light spectrum. The red color is for flowering and the blue is for vegging. Right now the 4ft T5s in there are all red. I don't have any veg bulbs for them so they will have to deal.

This rack will allow me to compare the difference between the two types of LEDs on the same genetics.

Thats a really nice tidy setup you have there  Looking forward to watching how it all works and the led experiment

Just got an AC setup which will help with these temperamental clones. I still have lots of ventilation work to complete as well.

STANDARD SETUP
Yesterday I turned off all LEDs and am just running the T5 for a spread. I want to avoid dehydration and heat issues until they root better.

5 our of 6 OG Larry standard clones look like survivors. 1 is pretty much dead. All are a little stressed to the look.

T5 Racks
So far the T5 only clones are doing about the same. One plants looks halfway OK, but the top is indicating severe stress. I think it can still root but its not looking good. I will know soon enough.

I got a 324 watt 6 bulb 4 ft T5 used. With this addition I can pump out some serious T5 light.

Thanks,

One of my goals for this new setup is to work towards self-contained plant buckets. It will be easier to keep the space clean and sterile. The better I can control the environment, the more viable my experimental results.

Trimmed today. Got rid of the dead leaves. Got the ventilation running.

Was able to achieve mid 80s in F temp today with the new AC. I got a "Amana APN14K 14,000 BTU Portable AC" for $500.

Now that the 10 inch vortex and AC are up I hope to have the situation under control.

More to come soon!

If you new my pain, you would understand the grin!

There is nothing worse than working in a grow room that is 98 to 102 degrees for days! After several cycles of designing, setup, and testing, I finally have a functioning air management system! In fact I seem to have beat the heat today!

Despite the high temperatures, I was able to attain an 82 degree peak temp. This is great news!

I added the AC to the bedroom to pre-cool the intake air. Of course it exhausts out the window. I also ducted the filtered exhaust line from the grow out the same window. Previously it exhausted into the apartment to avoid running ducting across the room. I also increased the passive intake hole.

The space is cool and the clones have had a little time to root.

It is time to turn on the rest of the lights. The only thing not setup today is the UVB which I will add soon enough Although UVB is most beneficial in THC production during late flowering.

Today I began bending and trimming the plants into the desired forms for long term growth. Most plants will have two primary stems that I will later bend into horizontal position.

*pics* *pics* please :) especially now you've got more lights on and started training. I'm at week 4 and 6 flowering my first serious efforts at LSTÃ*ng and topping and I'm really pleased with them, so I'd love to see up close what your planning to do.

T5 Grows
I was able to add lines to raise and lower the bottom set of T5 lights (18x24w). In the future perhaps something similar can be rigged for some of the other shelves.
276957

Red and Blue LED Setups
Right now I am creating two to four main stems depending on the way the clones were growing when I got them. Right now the clones are showing growth response and that indicates to me good rooting.

I replaced the dead OG Larry and the humidity hood and shade you see is there to protect the Lemon Kush that is in there now.
276956276954

Pressurized RO Water from 20g Res.
This is a great little addition that allows me to stop carrying water from the res to the plants. Now watering and misting is much easier.

anything happening in led land?

Hey wash, thanks for asking. I haven't been posting because of all of the server instability on the forum. It is often hard to log in, etc...

I am having excellent results and have finished another three 120w LED upgrades, and setup under-canopy lighting in 75% of the system. I am about three weeks into flowering now.

anything happening in led land?

Let me post some photos from about a month ago. There was a large burst of growth during this time. This is still 24 hour cycle. A couple of the plants are problematic for a variety of reasons. It looks like I will end up with 8 good OG Larrys, 2 good lemon kushs, and 3 good bluedreams. My OG Deadhead and my OG Tahoe are stunted, behind, and in poor health.

As you can see, this set contains the two "troublemakers" and a nice Lemon Kush.

I love Bluedream; there are some great suppliers around here and it is always fire!

These babies are actually under my new LEDs now, but at this point they have been T5 only.

It is a very notable difference in the growth patterns exhibited by the Red dom and Blue dom LEDs.

These Red dom LEDs result in shorter inter-node lengths which are ideal for keeping buds dense during flower. It can also be used to grow shorter & denser plants more easily than the Blue dom LEDs.

It is harder to tell from photos because I have groomed off some large FAN leaves, but they seem to grow twice as large under Blue dom LEDs than they do under Red dom. In addition the stems stretch more, allowing for a less dense canopy.

Yeah the down time on the forum is a bit of a pain in the butt but it does mean that I always have alot of catching up to do when I can login. Thats nice lol.

Your plants omni are looking really fabulous and I'm fascinated with the blue vs red dominant lights. My leds are red dom so I'm curious how your blue ones will go in comparison. Regardless they all are doing wonderful.

Have you got any pics of them in bloom now?

omnibuddy
09-04-2011, 01:24 AM
Yeah, I have a newer series of photos, but the good ones wont come for one to two more weeks. Right now the Lemon Kush is clearly a faster bloomer with significantly more developed flowers. All of the rest are pacing together with good progress. There isn't a great deal of crystal formation on the bud leaves yet, but you can see them forming. I am trying to use the UVB bulbs as much aws I can, but it is a pain because I have to turn them off one at a time whenever I go into the room to work. They cause killer THC growth and skin cancer too you know.
