View Full Version : Why Is Weed Being Blamed?

So i got caught with possession about 3 months ago and everything is starting to clear up now and things are going back to normal but my dad doesn't want me to start smoking again. He blames everything that happens in life on weed. In my opinion its the way people overreact..
He claims "Weed ruins my life and i will never get a job"
"It ruined my cousins life and thats why he doesn't have a wife"
After one more week im done with my drug classes and want to start smoking again but he tells me hes going to continue to drug test me through out the summer.

Overall, why does the world blame weed for everything that goes wrong?
I was expelled from school for the remainder of the year for having 0.7 grams on me at school. i finished my junior year and in 3 months will be starting my senior year.

I want to start smoking again but idk where to turn...=(

As long as you live under your fathers roof, you should respect his wishes, plain and simple....

And if you want to know why the world blames things on cannabis, read up on it's history......

In biblical times of old, back when they didn't have Twitter or MyFaceSpaceBook... they had a ceremony involving the ritual escape of an animal. This animal, a goat, was called a 'scapegoat'. It was blamed for every single bad thing that had happened; plague, war, drought, locusts, God peeing on the ark, Lots wife being turned to a pillar of salt, affairs, stubbed toes, whatever. This goat was then released and chased away, thus taking all the problems with it. At least this is what my religion teacher in Catholic High School told me. It could be just a cute story. Anyway.

Marijuana is the scapegoat because people are too cowardly to step forward and take blame for what they did. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you got expelled for the .7g [which is a ten sack, and more than enough to get someone your age high] because you were already going to drug rehab programs.

Basically, your dad is blaming the weed so he doesn't have to blame you.

You're getting to a point in your life where you can't afford to make stupid mistakes like that. If you have to carry it on you, hide it in your shoe or something. Better yet, leave it at home. In an obscure DVD box nobody would ever look in. Dropped behind your book case. Under a really filthy sock nobody would ever want to touch.

I'm not going to give you a lecture, but you really ought to respect your fathers rules. Also; this is going to haunt you for the rest of your high school career. Do you really want to be known as 'the druggie' to the kids who don't know you by name?

Its the same old story. Its not weed thats causing the problem, its unconstitutional prohibition with oppressive laws that are causing the problem. Try to talk to your dad about the facts. Weed has never caused anyone any harm. Its the laws that destroy families and lives.

Bottom line, if smoking is impeeding important areas of your life such as your education, it is time to take a break. Sounds like you are too young to be smoking if this is what's happening to you.

And as CanGoIt said, as long as you are under his roof, it's his rules. There will be plenty of time to toke up so why not concentrate on your studies in the meantime?

Dear Its a Plant,

I mean no disrespect to your authority here. But if you think about the age of a person who just finished thier junior year of high school, they are probably not even 18 years old. Begs the question, should he even be here?

But even if he is old enough, I have to agree that living under his father's roof (at any age) he needs to obey his father's rules.

Respectively,
OM:thumbsup:

If you're under 18 you really don't have a leg to stand on and should observer your fathers wishes, bringing weed to school is STUPID! When you turn 18 and graduate you can do whatever you heart desires but as long as you're under your fathers roof STFU and deal with it.

The site is trying to do away with the 18+ rules, which explains why he is not banned. No need to worry about it. ;)

Here's something to ponder...
If something causes problems in your life, you have a problem with it. End of frigging story. You were not nearly mature enough to consider the consequences of your actions, and are now paying the price. Your father's attitude is a combination of his past experiences with cannabis, and your fucking-up and getting caught. And I disagree with a previous statement that the dad is getting mad at cannabis instead of blaming the son. IMHO, dad is blaming the drug for taking his kid down the same road as others in the family. (laziness, forgetfulness, irresponsible, untrustworthy, uncaring for rules and family...) Likely it's your "it's no big deal" approach to getting caught and suspended, that is killing your dad. Normal folks feel remorse when caught doing something they know is wrong. Justifying the illegal behavior is folly, as is wondering why the attitudes against cannabis are virtually set in stone for some folks. Want to change his attitude...? Straighten-up and fly right. Show him that cannabis isn't the destructive force it's touted to be, that it's possible to smoke cannabis responsibly. If you can, that is...

This member's situation and his question are among the reasons old-timers like myself are fading away. I'll be damned if I'm going to offer growroom knowledge to some child that is likely use the info to further their own downfall. Many of us old timers have given the mods clues about this situation, but the posts keep getting deleted and temporary bans dished-out. If this site is going to remove previous restrictions and the original stated reason for this site is discarded, I'm outta here too. Too bad, too. This WAS a nice place to learn how to grow meds without shitloads of prissy little teens running around being fools. Truly a shame.

Let me clarify: We are going to stop enforcing the age limit rule in the profile, but still are 18+, however we will stop banning on those grounds. A newer list of rules is supposed to make an appearance one day, so I'm told.

Its easy to blame drugs and shit for people problems. In reality, PEOPLE are the problem not the drugs. Drugs get these bad reps because stupid people fuck up in life that happen to be using. Humans are fucking retarted, you know?

there respecting your fathers wishes while under his roof is sound and legal advice, Have you explained to your father why and the benefits. You might be able to bring him around. If pot was a gateway drug there would be as heavy a use of hard core drugs as there are pot users.

I agree with everyone saying do right by your ol man. You might think he's being unjust but he's just acting in a way that he feels will be best for you. As for me, my dad smoked with me from age 16 but i dropped out annd had a job. I smoke with my kid who is 17 and he voluentarily took summer school every year of high school and has earned enough credits to only do half days this year as a senior. Has a 3.0 and skips at least twice a week. I say either talk to him, deal with it or get out of the mans house.

people fear what they dont understand. On the other hand, excessive weed use has been linked to dopamine receptors in the brain and less motivation for in the long term, so maybe he has a point?
