Dan Hartman seemed like a decent fellow. He seemed to know he has a monumental task in enforcing the laws and rules he has, for the most part, been given by the Legislature. He made it clear that if a MMJ Center is doing their best to comply they will be givin some room and guidance. He said he is still understaffed. He said caregivers are low on his list unless they are found to be in major abuse and that would likely be found out by neighbors or local LEO. He said he is very hesitant to get involved with patients or caregivers as there are Amendment 20 issues. He did get a bit of a BOO when he said there will be no shared kitchens for Infused Products folks. All in all it seems it will be the focus of MMED to monitor ans assure compliance with dispensaries for the next year and that he expects changes to rules as lawmakers try and tweak it out and the courts make changes to laws. Very interesting meeting.

Cool thanks! Did anybody bring up how the DEA had pulled building plans for every dispensary from the county planning offices ?

No they did not. I did not hear about that in any side conversations either. That's a bit disturbing to say the least. Where did you learn about this? The subject of the IRS setting up shop here to audit MMJ businesses (rumor) did not come up either. Nor did how one should pay Federal Taxes on a MMJ business.

Hartman did say that no existing surveillance equipment in place that is nonconforming to the new specs will be grandfathered in. The equipment will be need to swapped out. He also said that the surveillance equipment will need to be able to observe all areas. If you can't be seen behind a ten foot plant or around a corner, additional cameras please.

He also said this at an ACT4CO seminar on security. He also seemed to be aware that after July 1st, the MMJ community's opinion of him might not be as favorable when they start telling us what needs to be done.

The shared kitchens is an interesting issue that is very similar to warehouses that lease to multiple growers with different OPC licenses. Even if a grower just has a tent set up in warehouse, they have to have their own top-of-the-line security system in a secure area, and no security resource can be shared between different OPC's.

It's going to be a ride to see how this all plays out in the coming months.

I really do wish you guys luck in dealing with this mess. I can't say I would have stayed in it after reading 1284 for the first time.

Two different sources.. one was another dispensary owner, the other was from a contact that knows an employee that was pulling building plans.

Now AG Holder is going to "clarify" federal involvement in state sanctioned dispensaries. Can't wait to see what that is going to be.
