Hey guys! It's been a while since my last post. First let me put down some information about the grow I am going to attempt in the near future.

Veg Room:
C.A.P. Ebb and Gro (12) Site System
Reverse Osmosis water
(3) 600w MH Digilux bulbs
Hydroton for medium

Flowering Room
C.A.P. Ebb and Gro (12) Site System
Reverse Osmosis water
(3) 1000w HPS Digilux bulbs
Hydroton for medium

After speaking to some of my friends who grow, they suggested using Coco Coir for a growing medium instead of using the hydroton. After reading about Coco, I couldn't really find any information about using Coco with an Ebb and Gro setup. My questions is, can Coco be used in an Ebb and Gro system? The few articles I did find said to put about 2" of Hydroton in the bottom of the buckets to keep the Coco from draining out of the netted pots. Other have said using perlite mixed with the Coco will have the same affect. Has anyone tried either of these and what success rate did you have in stopping the medium from leaving the pots?

If the Ebb and Gro system will work with Coco then I have more questions. But we will start small and work our way there :D

Cheers!

Since no one who is currently using coco has said anything yet, thought I'd throw in my experience with it....

The last and only time I used coco, I found that the coco clogged drain lines, filters and pumps very easily. Maybe it was my setup, I had it on a drip system. It created a headache for me cause I had to disrupt root systems to fix the prob. After that nightmare, I stuck with the hydroton pebbles....

I would say for you to try it and see how it works for you....might work better for you than it did for me....

Thanks for the feedback CGI! I am think I am going to try and avoid clogging my lines and pumps by using Smart Pots. I am also planning on putting a little bit of panty hose or a piece of Smart Pot over each line before I insert it into the buckets for an extra filter. I am also gonna use the coco croutons instead of pyth or coir. That way I don't have to worry so much about smaller particles.

I am still open to hearing about others experiences with ebb and grow with coco or experience with the coco croutons.
