angles are your friend, angles. So, this door opens inwards huh? and obviously can't have anything sticking on the exterior of the door. So, the best idea i have is to add a slab of wood over the seem of the door and the door fram on the inside, attached to the door. so, light wouldn't just go straight through the crack, it would have to go around that sheet/slab. Next, i would get place another sheet on top of the added sheet, so you have stairs in effect, and, with the now gap in between the adjacent wall and the added slab, i would put in foam window/door sealer(the stuff with the adhesive on one side) that should be light proof as a mug. :)

If your door swings inward, the best idea I can possibly think of is adding rubber seals to it. Another name for this could weather stripping. I would put a lower weather rubber seal on the bottom of the door. Then you could also, if find the correct thickness for the space between your door and the door jam itself, place them on the sides and top of the door as well. However, if the spacing between the actual door jams / external framing / molding pieces is to small. You could always opt to try and place those rubber door seals on the inside of the door (inside of room side of door) and allow them to overlap beyond the width and height of the door (given your door hinges are not in the exact corner of the room or the opposing side of the door. And the ceiling isnt at the top of the door.) If the door is in a corner, and or at the ceiling, another choice could be to take renolds wrap, and make a long string of it, bunched together, at a thickness of 1/2" to 1" (depending on your spacing needed to fill) and the length of the door (including spacing) You could then wrap your self made door seals with duct tape, or something similar in a candy cane type of method. Then along the inside of the door framing / modling, use double sided tape, or something similar to hold the renolds wrap in place. Though this self made sealing will not work for the bottom of the door, you would be better off buying a actual weather sealing for the bottom of the door. Just keep in mind, if you do buy weather seals, or door sealing rubber, be sure that it is flexable. Another option for the hindge side of the door iteself, would be to find some black cloth, film, plastic, etc. Cut yourself a strip the length of door frame / jam/ etc (usually a few inches longer then your door). And make sure its width is no less then 7". You may think "why such a random number?" Easy, when the door is closed, this piece of material is going to be laid flat, so when opened, it will bow and allow the door to be used freely. When you attach this piece of material to your door & frame/jam/wall possibly. Try to attach it so that it covers 2" of the hindge side of the door, and when placed on wall, try to ensure that at least 2" is also attach to the wall/door frame / jam. This still leaves 3" of play. It is best to attach this piece with the door closed, so that you can see what the farthest distance (width wise) you will be allowed to go without worry'n about if the material is going to rip off when go to close the door. A slight bow in the material while door is closed is ideal. Don't worry about cutting out spaces for the door hindges, just cover over top of them. You could also attach this with double sided tape, tac's, ducktape, glue etc. Just make sure you wash the area prior and ensure it is completely dry as well before using any type of type. Cuz otherwise, spat, dust = it will fall off eventually.
