I am 38yrs old. 12 years ago I had my gallbladder removed and have suffered with chronic diarrhea ever since. I've been to the doctor and they say I have ulcerative colitis. I do not take the meds rx'd by conventional doctors because most have side effects that destroy you even more than your original illness. Since I started working last July,my stomach problems have become severe. I have lost over 20lbs and I hardly eat anything at all. I would not be able to hold a job if I ate because everything goes straight through me. Due to suffering with this for so long I have developed something else causing excruciating rectal pain, possibly a fissure or spasms. I am taking natural meds and working on healing my self but I have had some people say that cannabis is helpful to my illness. Is this true? Has anyone else suffered similar problems and cannabis helped them? I used to smoke as a teen and I loved it but I now hate the feeling of being high, but I am willing to try it in very small amounts if it can help. I was in such pain the other day that I was crying hysterically and I can't take it any more. I am desperate to have a normal life again. I never go out and I hardly eat at all. I do know one thing that cannabis does do which is enhance the female libido which would be a great plus since chronic illness seems to destroy that as well.

Cannabis plants produce a unique family of terpeno-phenolic compounds called cannabinoids, which produce the "high" one experiences from smoking marijuana. The two cannabinoids usually produced in greatest abundance are cannabidiol (CBD) and/or Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but only THC is psychoactive.

Cannabis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis)

I'm no doctor or anything and I'm sure there are others on here than could be much more helpful than me but I might suggest you look into CBD, the non psychoactive cannabinoid. good luck and welcome aboard.

Hey, sorry to learn about your decease......
Here I can share some info about medical marijuana used in chronic pain...

Marijuana has been found beneficial in the treatment of chronic pain. In addition to it's analgesic effects, it is an anti-inflammatory, and it can work synergystically with opiod medications. Unfortunately, although opiod medications are effective in treating the pain in the beginning, over time a tolerance can develop, and they don't work as well. Furthermore, research has shown except for the potential damage to the lungs, it is safer than many of the legal drugs used for pain.
After all, it seems to me that medical marijuana is a viable alternative in the treatment of chronic pain.

Wishes you best of luck...........

Temperature is really important in medical marijuana use. I use several types of MJ without much "buzz", pretty much daily. Get a vaporizer if you don't already have one, and go for 375 or above - then you get all the bennies of MJ, but not so much "buzz" and stupidity. This has been well documented, but is often ignored by medical users who think pot is pot. It's not, it's not. Since your problems are GI, you may also benefit from eating it - especially the leaves processed with fruit, into juice. Variety of the plant and temperature are critical. Hope you get some help soon. Amazon has some decent medical marijuana books. Get them and read up.

Assuming you are under the care of a dr. And by now, have reviewed Granny Strom Crows remedies. You should be getting better. I have had good luck with Blueberry for body type of muscle and nerve pain. It would be my guess, you are pretty up tight and any Indica would help. I personally like and have had success for pain with Blueberry and Kush: And if eating is a bad problem-get some butter; you can spread it on your toast or just take a small tsp. of it and that will help your appetite.

However, due to your weight loss: That is concerning. I sure hope your Dr. is aware of that. If it is simply because of not eating-get some edibles; and then try not to eat: Good luck. Check back in!
