economic grow log

ok i have been meaning to do this for awhile now.
i am going to do a grow log.
the grow log will be done for in ireland and list places where you can buy things that we need or can use low cost
this will be of cheap in door grow.
green house grow.
and a grown in the wild set up.

1st lets start with what i plan to do
i am not going to teach ya how to set up ur grow medium.
what size pots to use, what seeds to buy or how many you should grow.
there are to many links and done to death.

so you want to grow?
who have ya told that your planning on growing?
90% of those caught had told some1.


Some1 you may piss off or some1 that is under pressure.
If i could see that far ahead i wouldnt be here
i would of won the lotto for the last 10years then fucked of to mars to live, grow, smoke and be happy.

list of items needed

lights need 2 sets(6500K=veg, 2700K=flower)
wood to make a frame
light holders (straight batton's i used)
wire, plug, insulation tape and connectors
white paint/mylar/some other refective foil
grow medium
green house
desktop fan
pc fans and power supply
pots
timer
a brain in ur head lol







cheap grow
well this will be very cheap not big yeilds but enough to get urself some smoke
almost every1 has a wardrope that they can use.
cfls blubs ppl can buy in the shops
straight baton bulb holders and drinks cans and a bit of wire.
some wood, duck tape card board.
comman sense

so how much light?

2000 lumens sq. ft./21500 lumens sq. m. = Absolute minimum for growth. You won't get much from this, especially after the plant has grown a bit. Not really enough to flower well.

3000 lumens sq. ft./32250 lumens sq. m. = Pretty Good growth. Enough light for the entire light cycle, although your yields may be lower.

4000 lumens sq. ft./43000 lumens sq. m. = Very good growth. Once you pass around 3500, growth rate and ability goes up fast.

Over 5000 lumens sq. ft./53750 lumens sq. m. = Optimal growth. Dense growth in all stages.

12 blubs @ 11 watts giving 600 lumen each is 7,200 lumen 132 watts
8 blubs @ 11 watts giving 600 lumen each is 4,800 lumen 88 watts
so you get the idea of how much light you need

but 1 thing wrong with this
the light sepecturim
6500K=veg
2700K=flower
well do you have lights in ur house?
do you have these energy saving light bulbs?
well look to see what light spectrium they are.
i have veg lights in my house when i have the flower bulbs on my plant.
cake and eat it man.

the straight batons should cost no more than 2 euro each
the bulbs i got from a discount store at 99 cent each
i hear you thinking fucking great take a look at the indoor lighting section and Roughrider's Answers about CFL, HPS, How Much Light... its a sticky so cant miss it.
timber for a frame is about 7euro per lenght about 12 foot
i made mine for scrap wood free.
wire about 5 euro

so lets start
8 bulbs = 99x8=7.92
8 batons = 2x8=16
wire=5
wood=7
conectors insulation tape&plug=5.50
TOTAL= 41.42

may need odds and ends so lets say 50 euro?
so 50 euro for a 4,800 lumen 88 watts bulb
problem with this.
cost of bulbs wont all be this price the average price is about 3.50 euro each
in the spectrum that you need.
the 2euro shop could have the bulbs you need but may not be in the light range you need.

over 1 sq foot 12 in by 12 in and room for 4 more bulbs!
to bring it up to 7,200 lumen 132 watts blub on 1 sq foot
the problem with cfls is how far it prenatrates the canopy of growth.
so how long do you let them grow what can you grow in 1 sq foot?

this is a pc case most are about 8in by 18in 1 sq foot
about 25g at what we pay 10euro a gram
12 weeks 1 plant 3g short of an oz.
do you spend 50 euro a week on a 3.5g bag?
so from 1 plant you have about 7 weeks worth.
plan is 3 weeks growth 9 weeks flowering.
what about cost?
12 hours a week at 136 watts 84 hours cost you every 2 months 16euro
so for 12 weeks about 24 euro's
so 25gx10euro=250euro -(cost of light)50-(cost esb bill)24 =176euro savings.

so what if ya had 2 of these running 1 in veg and 1 in flower?

1 plant in veg the whole time and clones of it?
lets see.
Strawberry Blue is my plant i will grow from start to finish;)

i will be taking clones from this and will be grown in the green house and grown out wild.
So every1 can see the difference between the grows.
And with the weather in ireland the way it is, lets see what happens.:wtf:

i do grow in my own grow room but i understand how ppl have to start of and learn.
like when starting a new sport you get a lend of stuff, hire it or go out with a mate.
cant do that here but why would you put larger amounts of cash into something that,
lets face it we all cant do!

and yes i know, the more you put in the more you will get out of it.
and i dont want ppl coming on and saying if you add this or this will get better results, i know this! this is a start up.

cheap and local guide to having ur own and smoking it ;)
so get down to ur local discount store.
aldi, lidi, 2euro shop and other chains.
not saying this only place to shop.
try where you can.
i say shop around the whole time.

i will be doing things that you can get for free, or near to free.
nettle fertisler and stuff like this.

ok today is the 24/3/11
started to germinate the seed by soaking in a clean jar for 24 hours.
then onto cotton wool in a zip bag till root comes out.
but loads on this in other places so wont repeat.

so for now will show you how i made my light rig.

OK the light rig is 38cmx47cm
the 4 bulbs run on the 38cm length
you could get 5 on each side but wanted some sort of reflector.
this gives me the room i need for 12 bulbs or 14 if ya wanna
but with the light holders in place the light directly below the bulbs is 1sq.ft
i have measured and laid it out so that i can fit another 2 bulbs at the ends.
it is wired up. in a way that 8 wires become 4wires, 2wires then one with a plug on the end.
as we don't need a ballast and all in the light its self we do need a good timer that can take the start up.
i have used cheap ones fine and others that didn't last any time at all.
if ya don't get a timer getting up everyday to switch on and off.
but what about when ur sick?
i am going to finish up wiring the rig for 8 bulbs

next i hear you say is what about that light that is being wasted:jointsmile:
fear not how about a drinks can?

the 1st thing i did was was it out and let it dry
then i scored round the inside top edge with a sharp knife (bosco says get a grown up to help you)
it will wear down and be able to cut it out.
then cut of the bottom of the can.
as seen below cut down the length of the can and fold the sides back
duck tape on to the holder and there ya go 1 light reflector
now repeat on other 7

what you going to grow in?

well i made my own box but you could use a wardrobe
but need to seal it up for light leaks.
what ever you do make sure you have room for a desk top fan to circulate air inside. it is white inside it? and need an air flow into it and out.
well pc fans are the job quiet and made to run all day.
SMELL what you going to do?
well just going to have to put up with it in ur own house
or run the exhaust fan out side.

what about the outdoor grow man

well for the out door grow ppl should be of finding ur site
south facing, no traffic past it.
do you know what soil type it is
will you bring in ur own soil?
if growing out wild, who's land are you growing on?
now this is something you have to think about!

if you had 1 plant growing inside your house and some1 had planted a couple of plants on ur land.
the plants were found and cops came to ur door warrant in hand.

how do you prove that you weren't growing the 1's outside?
this is what you could do to some1
so pls ppl pick ur site carefully.




i dont plant anything outside till the end of may.
but i do start in the green house in April
i will be growing strawberry blue in all 3 ways
so ppl can see how things go and i will be cloning them
so we can compare the way they grow and yield.
i will be growing other plants this year
lennon, nefertiti, tutankhamon, indian haze, strawberry blue and some flash babylon
the indian haze and lennon will have to be covered come august due to them taking so long to flower

this log and guide will take me 7 months from start to finish
ok i have some plants in the small green house at the min
of 4 Indian haze and flash Babylon some pic below:jointsmile:
the flash went out about 4 weeks ago needs another 6 weeks its an autoflower:D
the Indian haze is only out 2 weeks want these to grow big and bushy.
and i want male out of them aswell want the pollen to add to the other plants
so hard to get regular seeds these days
my personal seed bank got wiped out by my own carelessness :mad:
i will be doing some bag seed aswell

as you can see they are not to bad in price
and you can really see what is in it from 15ft away
plus you can put a pc fan in the top with a rechareabe battery pack(which will show how to build aswell)
to give airflow.

so the out door grow
after you have found ur site clear it of weeds and turn the soil add what you have to
add
dont had fresh manure as this wont break down in time for plants
will burn them and give lock out
buy some mature manure or what ever you can get ur hands on
is there rabbits in the area?
if so will have to put in a fence
a copper pipe flatted and bent round in a ring
at the bottom of the plant
will keep slugs away with out poisoning the birds and wild life

what about this to plant in and has the benefit that you can move it and put ur own growing medium in it?

Potato Planter have a look at them there are small and large ones going to need large

most plants i put out are about 12in high
the main thing for growing plants for outdoors is not let them be soft
if you were growing them inside under lights
when you put them straight out in the sunlight they will burn with the UV rays
to get round this need to put them out in the shade for a week
for them to get used to the different light rays
you may not see much growth in this week or the following week
due to the shock the plant gets new light and new soil.
but these are as they say soft shocks:D
water supply is something to think about
will you have to cart it far away?
if on a slope make were planting a ridge the lip slightly higher to hold water
or dig a hole and line it to hold the rain water.
now i am one person who will only go back to the plant when there is a long drought
and when it is time to harvest.
i just let them get on with it.
with allot of ppl they may not have some where to dry them out
will also show you how to dry them outside
so start collecting the little nets that garlic comes in and onions
part of what you need and if your growing alot will need alot

so i will list what they are here
B2 = NEFERTITI
B3 = TUTANKHAMON
B4 = LENNON
B5 = FLASH BABYLON
B6 = STRAWBERRY BLUE

A2,A3,A4,A5,A6 = BAG SEED

so i am just giving them water for now still under dome to keep humidity high.
they are getting light from 6am till 9 pm
i do this as i plan to put them outside middle/end of may

by doing this i wont confuse the plants so they will keep on growing
if i had them on 18 hours light 6 hours dark they would have to go out June 21st
when the light starts to fall down the way.

the plants measure cm high
c2 6cm
b2 3cm
b3 2cm
b4 1.5cm
b5 3.5cm
b6 4.5cm

there heads were just above the soil on monday the 4th now the 7th
2 only came above the soil on wed the 6th b4 and b3

they are now under lights of 8 cfl's of 9 watts each 600 lumen
4,800 lumen total so far
and this is over 1 sq foot
lights are above the plants by 5-6cm
i have just taken the cover off and a desktop fan blowing on the plants
this will be on for an hour then the cover put back on
this will stop them growing to high and strengthen the stem
be careful of drying the soil out to much with the fan

a quick up date with plants while i can site has been on and off
the flash babylon is 22cm high now
the 4 indian haze 1 has got root problems
the indoor plants will be getting their 1st feed in a couple of days
the 5 bag seed never popped above soil no big loss

gave them their 1 st nutes today it was 7.5 1.5 1.5
made it weak as they are only a week old really

As you can see from pic below b4 is not really growing it was the last one up from the ground
they are all feminized seeds and b4 is the lennon
from what i found out these are slow starters but go like shit of a stick after 3 rd set

as ya can see i have given the plants way to much feed on the b2-c2 plants
but the Indian haze loved it and the flash Babylon which are out in the greenhouse
i am starting of 6 more Indian haze now this week
the b2-c2 plants will be stunted growth
i flushed the pots then i re potted them
as the roots were growing out the bottom anyway
i feel this will give them the best chance to come back round with fresh soil
i made up to different feeds and i made 1 stronger than the other
put the stronger one on the plants inside
but the Indian haze has almost doubled in size
starting to pull the top of the flash Babylon down to get the lower bud sites popping :D

the reason i actually found this fourm is because i have been looking threw the internet for the past 3 weeks on tips on how to grow

i have never grown before and ill be quite honast with you i know fuck all about it

i am just woundering is there any chance you could give me a few tips nd tell me what i need..
i have read down threw ur blog and figure out u know quite alot about it
but at the start it dosent seem like u are getting the full yeald out of the plants

i am after getting 3 femanised seeds ( kings kush) and it says they can yeald up to 700g .. hey maybe thats me been stupid and knowing nutting about this but when i am growing i want to get the most out of the plant ( not saying u arent or anything) so i hope you could get back to me on this i would really really appreciate it if u could help me out ... i dont have many other people that i can ask haha

okay man i have been studing your growlog now for the past few hours and these are the questions i need answered :D

1. when the seeds are just seeds what must i do to them untill they begin to grow ?
2. how much light do i need an them at this stage. (i am going to use your method with lights and get the energy saver 1,s so how many bulbs will i need and what watt will i get them in)?
3. when they are begining to flower how much light will i need how many bulbs and what watt bulbs will have the best flowering from? .. as i said in my last post i really want to get the most outa these plants and i have the space so will use how ever much light i need
4. feeding the plants .. how often a day and how much do i need to water them? ..
5. what is the best thing to feed the plants with in ireland?
6. what kind of soil do u use?
7. after i have been looking on so many websites alode of them always have something about the PH level in the water .. my question is .. Is this really important

they are the most of my question and as i said in my last post i would really really appreciate it if you could help me out lol

if you have any other facts that you think i should know about please feel free to share because i am all ears and need good advice haha
