I am not a writer, so please, excuse my rant.
I am a forty three year old medical cardholder since October 2008. I turned to medical marijuana after being hooked on Vicoden for a year or so. This prescribed by my work comp Dr. for my back injury. He kept prescribing them to me even after I told them they weren't working and I was taking 10+ a day. I even had a stroke in May of 2009. Although the doctors tell me it wasn't related to the Vicoden, I have my own opinion. I was not just taking the recommended dose as prescribed, I was taking 10-12 5-500's and they made me feel like I had drank a pot or two of coffee. My heart would race and my hands would shake. Put this ontop of the fact that my blood pressure was out of control. I cant see how they helped the situation, they sure didn't help my pain.
Since I started using high grade medical marijuana, I have just about cut out the prescription pills. I still have the back injury although work comp Dr's said I was at MMI (maximum medical improvement) basically means that there was nothing they could do for me. Bunch of BS. I settled my work comp claim $5000 measly bucks and went to MY DR the same week and had xrays done. I have seen two specialists so far who reccomend Fusing 3 of my vertebra L4,L5 & S1. I haven't done surgery yet and still experience a great deal of pain, which I can manage somewhat with the use of my home grown medicine. I smoke and eat my MMJ meds.
This brings me to my real delimma. I had the pleasure of getting a visit from the Colorado Springs Task Force. Supposedly a neighbor complained about plants I had outside and a strong smell of marijuana. I was served a search warrant and let them into my house. They did their thing, went thru all my meds which took about 2 & 1/2 hours.
I had four marijuana plants (vegitative state), 2,011grams of refined marijuana in safeway brown paper bags and jars and made copies of all my paperwork.
All of which was left with me, NO charges and I didn't goto jail.
The actual "refined marijuana" consisted of 2 ounces (56grams) of BUD marijuana. The other 1,955grams was trimmings(leaves!!!), material I had been saving for several grows in brown paper bags to make butter, tea and other foods.
All I received when the Task Force left my home was a copy of the search warrant and an evidence/property invoice. Everyone was really nice and professional. They even made comments about how they had seen much worse situations, how they knew I wasn't in it to make money, I obviously had medical problems and was one of the few that really needed this for my pain, I'm not some 20 year old kid doing this to be a pot dealer, how they would not be back, even if they received more calls?? What?
Anyway this all happend at the end of October of 2010, I didn't hear anything from them about any charges that I had on me. I even had a lawyer call to see if I needed to take care of anything. Nothing from them at all.
Just recently one morning as I was reading the paper and I see myself in the CRIMESTOPPERS section as a wanted fugitive!!!! WTFrank..
I of course am freaked out and start calling to see what I need to do. I end up seeing a bondsman and find out I have a $2000 bond. I then come up with the $240 and turn myself into the jail. I spent 4 hours sitting on my bad back with my back brace on and using a cane. I am currently a facing felony charge - says on my paperwork from CJC - Process, cultivate, sale or distribute, less than 5lbs of Marijuana or less.
The experience sucked but was very professional and the staff was really nice. Still sucked..this whole thing sucks.
So please send me your thoughts and advice on how I should go forth into battle.
I am currently unemployed, spent last 3 1/2 years on disability, can't work, need surgery and need legal advice.
ps - DON'T THINK IT CAN'T HAPPEN TO YOU!!!
