sticky's 2011 Grow (2nd grow ever)

Well hello people its that time of the year and this is my 2nd grow.

Ok well im using some seeds i have saved since last year from the best buds that i got and smoked.

I only have 4 planted in med sized cups started them off
around march 15th they popped up about 2 days later and are growing very good so far i plan to pop about 6 more seeds so ill have 10 plants this year.

im not using MG soil this year umm im just using an off brand its called Expert gardener i just need to get some perlite.

well they are loving the sun they have already doubled in size i will be taking weekly pics so no worries people.

also im germing 4 seeds right now i would have did 6 but i only have 4 cups dont want them to pop before i have something to plant them in.


also umm i was thinking about force flowering a couple not having them grow maybe a foot tall just to have some early buds

Well for anyone following its been raining and pretty chilly here the past week, today was the first sunny day so yeah the little ones are fine i have them in a window and on sunny days i put them outside to get the good sun. I also have one other seedling so now i have 5 im having trouble getting the seeds to germ i have not had probs in the past so i dont know if its the seeds or what i will just have to keep trying.

This cold front came in and im sick of it get warm already.

Anyways ill have pics up tomorrow sometime so no worries guys.

Sorry people i have been really busy and not able to take a pic of the babies but i have a little free time this morning and so i got a shot of them and now im going to post it.

I have 5 plants did have 6 but one of them fell of the thing i had them setting on outside the other day while it was good and sunny did not think the wind would start up so quick.

Well here is the pic i only took one pic well bacause they are not much to look right now also it is from a cell phone so the quality is not going to be really good.

anyone wanna have a guess if they are sativa or indica dom?

so yeah this site changed a lot not many people comment anymore i mean am i posting this for my heath.

Is that Expert gardener from Walmart? Looks like your girls are liking it. I read somewhere that they used a light proof box to force flower outdoors. Seems like a good idea but im just parroting haha.

ah yes its from wal-mart haha yeah they seem to like it but i did get a bit of nute burn a week or so back but no signs of it now the potting soil is good for 9 months but the nutes in it are in lower amounts than whats in MG soil i think i could be wrong though.

ah yeah i was thinking about using a card bord box or maybe a big grabage can

well time for an update today i put one in the ground so i hope everything goes well now i just need to find a few more spots for a few other plants i may keep 1 or 2 in pots here and force flower them.

well another quick update sorry for the low amount of pics but i will get plenty soon as the rain stops.

so far i have transplanted the 2 i had left still in the cups and they are looking like they love it last time i checked the one in the ground it is already out growing the others so when the rain stops i will get pics of them for you guys and gals.

oh and i gonna germ about 5 more seeds in about a week.

ok so i was wondering if i need to feed my plants a lil bit of veg nutes the soil i have has nutes in it says it good for 9 months but seems the NPK lvl's in it are low here they are if someone could tell me if they are to low and i should add nutes or if they are just right or what i would be very thankful thanx in advance.

As far as the auto flowering thing, if you figure something out let me know because I want to try it with a couple plants. All I can say is if you use a box or whatever you use to decrease the light hours.. make sure the plant still gets air and can breath. As far as your NPK values I think you'll be good for a while.. as they get bigger and we head towards June you might want to supplement it with something else at low strength. Ah thanx man well i have good news today 2 out of the 3 have white hairs so im happy one is in a pot and the other is the one in the ground it has almost doubled in size in the last week compared to the other 2 that are in the pots.

the ones in the pots seem to be growing slowly since the transplant and i did not have a prob with stress after the trans plant into the bigger pots but even before i trans planted one of the plants the tops would turn like a yellow color but then it would clear up the next day or 2 and then come back again and then clear up any tips on what this could be?

also the 2 in pots are around 1 foot tall maybe give or take an inch or 2 the one in the ground is about 1 1/2 tall or more for some reason i dont think they are growing as fast as they should but it has been cloudy and rainy for the past week so not a lot of sun so this could be a reason.

Im watching bro. If ya have nutes in your soil that feeds for 9 months, i would not add anymore, you will burn em bro. I think you might re pot with fresh soil, which will give them fresh nutes from the new soil. They look ok, but maybe root bound a bit, which could be causing that yellow. But over watering would show that light green too and maybe more so before the root bound issue. Try letting them dry out and pull em out and check the roots, plus if ya dont have perlite in there and lots of holes in the bottom the leaves can get lime looking.

Otherwise they look great man. And id just flower a clone and not the whole plant to check sex. You could do it in a glass of water il bet to pop a pistil, just put it in 12/12 and you will see.

ah thanx LSY its nice to see ya again well they cant be root bound i just re potted them like a week and a half ago as yo ucan see on the other pics they were in foam cups.

Damn i wish i would have came on here and checked the thread before giving them a dose of nutes ah man now im worried that they will get burnt. Well live and learn i guess i will keep my fingers crossed i still have time to start some more but those are the best looking plants i have grown so far i gave them a small dose 0.5 tsp.

Thanx for that sexing tip also i will try that when i top the one that has not shown its sex but the other 2 showed sex on there own i have not been force flowering but i did bring them in last week when it was raining all week maybe thats why.

well guys my best looking plant turned out ot be male so he got the chop i trans planted the female into the bigger white pot and i put the smaller younger plant in the butter bucket so i hope everything works out.

Well guys time for an update with pics as you know my best looking plant turned male so he got the chop and the female got put into a bigger white pot, the smaller one in the cup from the last pics got transplanted into the butter pot.

Also the smaller one in the butter pot showed sex so its a female im happy haha.

The first 2 pics or of the older girl and the 3rd pic is of the younger girl i have a total of 8 plants 3 seedlings that just popped this week and some smaller badly stunted ones that a my cuz gave me.

let me know what you think guys any advice would be great or just any comments haha :jointsmile: :hippy:

i kept them in the cups for about 5 or 6 weeks from the look of the roots at that time if i had left them in the cups for another 2 weeks they would be pretty root bound.

you can always just wait till the soil is dry enough and just turn it upside down and pull the cup off gently and check the roots to see how the roots look and if its ready to transplant.

ah yeah i do most of the time just the closest places to get soil were sold out its no biggie though lots of people around here have veggie gardens and such not many real bud growers though just a few and they are all old timers.

i trans planted the 2 females today the oldest into her final home and the youngest into the white pot, then one of the smaller stunted ones i wanna see if it grows faster now.

i was just wondering if its normal to have to water about ever 2 days when growing in 5 gallon pots?

see the problem with mine is like i water it on the 8th around 7pm and by the afternoon on the 10th she looks all droopy.

so i was thinking either its heat exhaustion or she needs water she is about 3 1'2 to 4 ft tall right now should i be worried about this or should i just not worry about it and just keep doing what im doing?

After a couple days outside, 2 days sounds about right. Couple days after watering, drooping is how i know its time to water again.

Lift em when you think they need to be watered. Then after a thorough watering, lift again. The pot should be considerably lighter before watering again. Youll start getting a muscle memory for when they should be watered. And if you cant lift, tilt.

ah thanx man yeah she was all droopy today the last time i watered her was on the 10th so i go out and look at her today and sure enough she is droopy so i give her 2 gallons of water and before i could finish watering she was starting to perk up so i guess she is just using a lot of water.

i almost forgot a lil tid bit there has been a small lil praying mantis living on my plant for about 3 to 4 weeks it started out as a really small brown looking one i almost gave him the thump then i realized what he/she was and so i have left it alone now its starting to get bigger and turning green i cant wait till its grown up so then it can really kill all the pests.

time for an update well the older female i have named her Polly she was root bound so i dug a hole and put her in it yesterday afternoon so now i think she is happy no more droop so now im just hope she takes to her new home fine.

Well this is only my 2nd grow but from what i have read a lot of factors go into it, so id just make sure that you have a good root zone the better/bigger the root zone the bigger the plant will get and make more buds.

The other thing you need will be lots of good sun light. then some good nutrients to feed your plants with some for veg and some for flower with all of that and depending on the strain you should have some nice good dense buds.

yeah im unemployed so my plants are getting the generic treatment.. got a blueberry, 2 gdp, and a random kush outdoors in recycled soil.. no nitrogen and equalish amounts of phos + potassium last half of bud stage should = denseness?

ah yeah my g/f does not support me growing because she cant smoke so we have an agreement that as long as i dont spend lonts of money on growing it i dont have to hear any bitching about it so far i have only spent money on soil but you can get cheap nutes for both veg and flower just use miracle grow the all purpose plant food in the green box for veg and the purple bog called Miracle grow bloom for flower.

im not a pro so i cant really tell you what will help make them dense but i know if you feed your girls some flower nutes she will love it im sure you will be happy with what you get if you have lots of sun on them and good root zone plus nutes.

It's probably mostly that ppl aren't ballsy enough to register, which I have to admit made me a little nervous at first. I mainly did it because I wanted to see the thumbs, now I just keep posting for my own satisfaction.

Yeah i was nervous to at first haha, your plants look great though man and you have lots i looked at your log the other day and tried to comment but the damn site said the server was busy when i tried to post it but im pulling up a chair ill be watching cant wait to see how they look all budded out.

well guys i went to give the 3 girls i have in another spot some water i remembered to bring my cell this time and so i took a few pics of them all 3 look to be about 2 weeks into flower the 2 smaller ones are the 2 that i had in those white pots and the big one is about 8 foot tall.

how i hope all of my plants do good wish me luck guys this is only my 2nd time growing.

ah yeah i got a pair to haha i cant wait it seems my oldest plant is taking the longest to start budding.

yup same here, my blueberry is a re-veg and about a month older than the other plants, also looks the most sativa'ish and its slackin. Not too much to complain about, as long as it starts packin on the weight ill be happy :)

yeah i feel ya mine is just throwing out the white hairs everywhere just no buds forming yet but im like you as long as she buds up really good than it will but great i have already blown my 1st grow out the water i just hope my harvest and quality of buds will be alot better than last year.

well guys and gals time for another small pic update the big girl i have she is doing good about 2 weeks into flower and as yo ucan see from the 2nd pic she is getting the stretch so i expect her to take off into full flower in the newt few weeks i cant wait till harvest!!

what ya think people not to bad since my first grow i have improved haha but its not over yet still keeping my fingers crossed.

ah man i almost forgot we had a pretty good rain this morning up till about noon it was still raining lightly man thats the most rain we have had it awhile im glad i know the girls are loving it.

well guys i lost 3 of my girls the 2 smaller ones and bigger one i still have the big girl so its not a total loss.

here are some pics i took yesterday afternon this morning the light company came around cutting down tree limbs and stuff i did not have them under the lines but they still manages to run over them with the trucks salvaged what i could be the buds still not mature sucks.

looks like we are both having bad luck well i hope they made it man my girls were in the 5th week of flower and covered in trichs so i decided to try to make a little oil we shall see how it turns out haha.
