Hey guys so I am noticing that from the start of growth (they are only maybe an inch and a half tall) the stem has been purple. upon reading the forums and searching the internet i think i came to the conclusion that I have a phosphorus deficiency.
Reading on further it said i should get a pH tester and test my pH levels, then use nutes to adjust the levels.
NOW, heres the problem. pH testers cost about 10 bucks, and nutes will cost X amount more, I currently am broke.
I read that the pH def. will cause a stunt in the growth, and could possibly be why they are kinda going slow, Any ideas for a poor bastard? will i be fine? Or should i sucker up and drop like 25 dollars to get these going green?

You dont need to give them fert for some time. Patients is important, your plant hasnt been a plant for very long, it is just getting settled into its new home. In order to grow bigger, plants have to be able to get a strong enough root system to support them! They look fine to me, I could be wrong, I am a beginner as well. Watch now that I said I think they are alright, a more expereinced member is going to correct me, making me look bad! I have plants at different stages of life right now, some seeds just popped out 2 days ago, they look just like yours
If something were to happen, fill out the trouble shooting form. It is a sticky on the top of the plant problems page.

Well...how about someone back you up instead then, Bloads?
There is nothing wrong with those seedlings...it is normal for them to have green, purple or red stems when they are small, as yours are. There is a theory that red or purple amy even be an early indicator they are females, but it's still just a theory. You do not have a phosphorus problem and if you add it, you may kill them...It will take two to three weeks for them to get a decent root system going and until they do, water only, no nutes! PH is very important, so save your money for the next two or three weeks and get a ph tester, and read up on PH and weed growing here...well it's here somewhere...look for it! PH is just as important as adding nutes and lack of both or improperly applying either will stunt or delay growth, or kill them! Until you can test the ph of your (Tap?) water you can use rainwater collected in buckets, or melted snow as they should have a ph close to 7 (neutral). 6.8 is perfect for soil btw, so a little acid rain is ok...LOL!
