Ok, now I am too excited for mere words. I went to HTG supply in person today. Got almost everything I wanted, you know how it is, you have a wad of cake too blow and you try to get it all in 1 shot but you end up forgettin some stuff. BUT OMG! it was like I died and went to indoor growing heaven. So now, my tent is on the way as are my beans, and I am finally ready to start this shizit! :D

Small rundown on what I got:

1 90w tri band ufo, 2 2' single bulb t5 fixtures (came with grow, so I bought 2 bloom as well), a bag of FF Happy Frog, and a technaflora recipe for success starter kit, and miscellaneous what nots, bags, pots, thermo/hygrometer, yo-yo hangers etc. the guy gave me a freebie T-shirt and a pretty good discount! (that was the best part but I had driven a looooong way to get there). There is ABSOLUTELY no indoor garden supply stores anywhere near where I am.

So the question is, can I go from germination right to the LED OR would using one of the t5's OR a 23 watt cfl be better for the first few inches of growth?

Also, been looking for info on the forums about the technaflora stuff, been seeing only good stuff about most of it. Except some I have seen seem to dislike the cloning gel. If you have used this stuff, your opinions would be appreciated as well. CANNABIS.COM ROCKS!:rastabanna:

I may have been a bit too excited today on second thought. Only as far as the t5's go though. My tent is 36"w x 20"d x 64" high. Are 2 foot 24 watt lights(one on each rear support pole) going to offer any benefit at all or were they a waste of the $50.00? I keep second guessing this, thinking I may have been better off to get 4 35 watt cfl's instead? opinions?

I have been told T5 will encourage root growth.

LED is working for me though. I currently germinate in a 90w LED under a humidity dome.

I veg in LED and 6500k T12s and UVB.

I have not directly compared the two techniques. You could consider using both types in one space. You can use a $10 lumen reader from a nursery or hydro store, and then adjust the light distance until it reads the desired lumens.

I like to be precise though; you could just wing it since both work.

EDIT:
Here are pics of plants germinated from seed under T5s. I'm babysitting so they are in my LEDs, but they have only been in them about a day in this photo.

Here are my sprouts in the 90w LED:

Clearly mine are much younger at this stage.
