View Full Version : What is a good pet for me as a marijuana smoker with little room and little money?

Hi,

I want a pet so badly. I live in a very small one room appartement, 48m². It's the living-/bedroom/kitchen plus bathroom plus lumber-room plus a small corridor.

The only heated room is the living-/bedroom/kitchen. So at least while it's cold I'd have to keep the pet(s) always inside the heated room, where I bide and, if available, smoke my weed. At the moment I exclusively use a bong with a charcoal filter as my smoking device of choice.:rastabong:

I thought about pet rats, they are oh so cute and can be very affectionate, I read. They are also low maintenance and very affordable, but they don't want to be alone, so I'd need to get at least two of them.

Now I've also picked up somewhere, that rats have especially sensitive lungs and shouldn't be exposed to any kind of smoke. Could my smoking make them sick or even kill them?

What I seek in a pet is a little companionship. It should be cute, fluffy and affectionate. I want a pet I can pet and rats are very sociable towards humans, I've read.

Hamsters are nocturnal and generally not as sociable towards humans. They prefer to be left alone in their cages most of the time, so I've been told.

I really tend to a small rodent, since they are mostly inexpensive, low maintenance and oh so cute. I really don't want to neglect my pet(s) but I just can't afford something expensive like a dog or a cat. I guess even ferrets are quite expensive to buy and maintain. And they need a lot of runout, which I can't provide due to my small appartement.

I've read some animals can metabolize marihuana just extremely slowly and can get seriously sick from it. From what I've heard those are especially carnivores like cats or dogs, who rarely eat plants.

So what do you think, what would be a good pet for me as a marijuana smoker?

Thanks a lot people and have a nice day.:whalephant:

Thanks so much guys.

Fish or turtles are kinda passive animals, they just swim or lie around, not really pets to pet and play with. A bearded dragon sounds like a beautiful pet but I kinda find fur cuter than scales. When I'm stoned, I prefer the company of something fluffy, a huge lizard might scare me.:)

I really look more for something furry. A pet I can play with or feet nuts to when I'm stoned on my sofa.

The absolute best pet for you is a rock. No feeding, walking, noise, disease or dying.:smokin:

Nuts? YIKES! yea, um, BWD you better handle this one, pardner...squirrel sounds like it would work....I just don't care for rodents, 'cept for target practice, but that's just me....I play with Wavy all the time when I'm buzzed....he's even got a trick....I blow something in his face and he stops, looks around a sec and crawls into his shell for a half hour or so...LOL! Yep, that's it....we're trying to get on Letterman now...J/King!!!:D I got a chocolate lab, too...imho they are the greatest pets of all, even with the barkin and poopin and since mines a male, the peein everywhere every ten seconds (where does he store all that??? Dog must be half bladder...) He makes me laugh a lot more than the turtle does...:stoned:

No animals were harmed in the making of this post!

I'd suggest some of these, but you'd run out of room pretty quickly . . .

I favor black cats!!! Had 4 over 30+ years. One lived to be 20. Two crossed my path during my recent journey. Matter of fact, one had a rabbit in its mouth at the beginning, and the other crossed my path at the end point, and soon help arrived when I got to town and ran out of gas again. More people asked if they could help then one could image. Gives one faith in humanity and black cats!!! :S2:

I have been giving my neighbor several pet rocks lately from my property. Her house is at the end of the street and she wants the rocks for protection. Trouble is I can only lift about a 100 pound rock. They may stop a small car but would just stub the toe of my pickup.

Thank you FLYINGHIGH2.

I'm sure spiders are intriguing animals and can be wonderful pets to people who like them but I'm really not a big fan of pet spiders.
