No one is going to post about the hearings tomorrow? Hope lots of people show up . Does anyone here know James Livingston of Pawtucket from the article? I have seen his name a few other times in the paper for being at MM hearing at the DOH. Seems his CG's have screwed him over. If anyone knows him , let me know . I would like to help change his experience with CG's.

Everyone should try to be there to make sure we don't lose our right to cultivate. Also to help weed out the inferior CC applications !:rastasmoke:

Id like to encourage all Cg's to help someone out in need! Pick up a low income patient on SSDI , help them with free or affordable meds. Find someone with a negative CG experiences , and help them! Change their opinion! :hippy:

On Monday, at 10 a.m., the state Department of Health will host a hearing in the health department auditorium in the basement of the Cannon Building at 3 Capitol Hill, to gauge what the public has to say about the 18 applicants vying for a compassion center license

Hey caregiversri,People always presume cg's are all alike. You know my prices are well below what the cc's are predicting.I know how you help your patients that are on a fixed income. It sucks to have those of us who are not in this to make a killing but to help those we can ,to be generally catagorized is not an accurate assumption. When I origionally posted my services a while back.I stated that I was not interested in "Whackjobs"for patients.Someone responded to my comment as if I was not compassionate. What my interpatation of "Whackjob"in a nutshell has been displayed in black & white by RI's very own "CRAIGSLIST cannabis community killa " I take my role as a cg seriously but not to the extent of putting my family in danger with patients who suffer from some form of psychosis where they turn to cannibalism and try and feed on the members of thier own community.Unfortunately,if you have been following this RI thread you know where I am comeing from and can understand why I used the term"Whackjob" I am a family man who must always put thier safety first. That's paramount IMHO

I was at the hearing. Glad I went some good info. I didn't notice any rats around talking shit but hey maybe they portray as a good person in real life? Anybody else notice the old guy in the blue shirt falling asleep to the left of the podium by "lunch break"?

I was in the back by the door.I would 've liked to have caught the guy dozzzz...N.But I did get a good laugh at Florence Nightingale talking about the 2nd hand smoke. I think RI will have 3 compassion centers up and running soon.I also believe Santa & the Easter Bunnys comeing to my next birthday party.I also think our R.I.'s one and only craigslist comedian would have been there if he hadn't stopped to fix a strangers flat tire, deliver for meals on wheels, shovel the walkway of the elderly center and lastly stop by the red cross and donate a pint.Other than that we all know he would have spoken out to the injustices in our community.

lmfao! funny shit. i was in the back too for a while til some seats finally opened up. Funny to see some of the people that really didn't care to be there talking loud disrespecting the speaker and people actually wanting to listen and also not offering some type of applause for the person to have the balls to speak in front of everyone their beliefs.

I was also in attendance for the hearing today and I was disappointed with the NIMBY attitude of "our" elected officials.
I guess they do not realize that MMJ patients are also their constituents!
There were some patients who spoke for all of us and I thank them for their courage.

I also got the pleasure of meeting Kodabear in person...always nice to put a face to the good people in our community.

I wish I could disagree with KB's assessment of the future of compassion centers in RI but I am afraid he is probably correct.

Mayor FUKfung of cranston is a real piece of work. The "not in my backyard" stance. But all is good there with the 6 martini business luncheons at twinoaks.Just as long as Vinny Bagadonuts and Tony Boxamuffins are wearing thier armani suits.Oh,and there's no problem with methadone clinics and liquor stores opening up.Oh yeah,The methadone clinics get Federal funding, palms will be greased.Fungs take on the suffrering ill.Combination# 12.... Mardis Gras Nightclub,A liquor store,Police haveing sex in there patrol car. NO SUBSTITUTIONS PLEASE. SoloDolo, this fortune cookie wasn't getting my applause.

After the representative from coventry expressed his concern for the proposed cc being in close proximity to the bike path which is utilized by the kids walking to fienstein middle school. Before exiting the stage he rattled off a couple of residents names in opposition from said site.I almost shit when he read the names Wayne and Lisa Gau**ier.I grew up with these people and know people who still hang out with them. They smoke as much as anyone I know. They are not ill. They are not medical patients. They are stoners! So when I left the DOH I started makeing calls to find out if they still baked.I was told they smoked out during the jets vs NE game a few weeks ago. However, they have children and don't want it in thier neighborhood.I always new he was a pu**y ,but a hippocrite pu**Y. Wayne I knew your character after you catching your wife banging 2 guys in YOUR bed and takeing her back and then dumping all your friends who were disgusted by what she had done to you.And now this! How can you say not in my neighborhood when it's in your house.A new low even for you bro!I'll see ya.

OldHead, Bro I can understand how that phrase seemed a bit gruff. It's just that I work in Healthcare.Work for a couple of years in an E.R. and have to deal with drunks spitting on ya.People going through sitting in the chairs for hours getting registered and triaged then sent back to me curled up in a fetal position crying about the abd pain.I get the order from the Doc 1 mg dilaudid iv push drop an iv in and give them thier dose.Turn ya back and guess what poof, magic they're gone.Oh how wonderful! Now I have to stop and call LEO because they have eloped with the access in thier arm I just put there. So fast forward 6 hours when the crack house gets raided and the tweeker behind curtain #3 has an iv with my initials on it.Sorry for seeming so cynical but if ya spend years in the field you are afforded the right to call em as ya see em.We get pretty good at it after awhile....As far as letting it go.It's been gone.If you noticed I didn't post after that for quite sometime. It just wasn't worth confrontation. But at this point I would like to trademark the phrase"whackjob"No hard feelings here bro.I am here to help and be part of the community. Not to be negative, thats just not me.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet some of the helpful and constructive members of our community at the hearing today.

I am very excited at the initial turnout--even if it noticeably cleared by the lunch hour.

It was remarkable to hear the varied responses from the diverse community of patients, especially the two older nurses who spoke quite eloquently. Also, I believe that one important mark of progress for the entire MMJ program was that every opponent to a compassion center had to predicate their antipathy with a stipulation: "I am not against the medicinal value of marijuana...but..." Except for the grossly misinformed woman (about supposed dangers of 2nd hand smoke), the arguments against were mostly political/zoning--NIMBY-- and for self-interest. As a community, we must respond as the arguments against our needs evolve.

On the way home from work, I heard JoAnne (from RIPAC) say on the evening news hour that few escape becoming a patient of some kind in their life. This extremely important point, that anybody or someone they love, could become in need of these centers--legitimate and patient-centric--was potent and eloquent. Also, a great sound-byte to get the "last word" for the evening commute. Publicly, this was a large step in the right direction.

Realistically, I got the impression that Thomas Slater and Greenleaf have the best political shots at getting approved. Patient and community support, with no anti-arugments that I heard (I had to leave for the second half, though) make these good bets. If any.

Keep up the active activism, Chromies.

??There will be reliability and accountability,? predicted Livingston, who is confined to a wheelchair and smokes marijuana several times a day. ??They can??t steal my weed. They can??t sell it on the street. It??s a guaranteed place and they would always have what I need.?- Mr. Livingston

This public rant in ProvoJournal sure looks familiar...anybgody else think so?
