View Full Version : Alcohol versus Marijuana

I'd like to hear some thoughts on what I have to say regarding alcohol and marijuana.
My stepdad drinks everyday-starts with tea and by 1:00 PM he is tearing into the beer. Around 5:30 PM he heads to the local bar for an hour or two and comes home drunk as hell. Yes, he drives himself to the bar and the bar is only 2 miles from our house. No secret in my faimly that I smoke weed and I don't feel ashamed for doing so. :p
My stepdad becomes a VERY MEAN person when he drinks and my Mom told me the other night he was clapping his hands while laying in bed.
He's family is not wrapped too tight (believe me) and the alcohol doesn't help out matters. He's not the most personable person when he's not drinking but I'd rather have that than an abusive drunk. He's old at 63 and I highly doubt he will ever stop.
My point is is that he rips on me about weed and calls it "Wacky Weed".
He thinks that he can drink all he wants cause his alcohol is legal and my weed isn't. Weed doesn't turn me into an "asshole" and abuse people. It helps relax me and I'll take that over alcohol anyday. And I won't have a hangover the next day. : )
How many accidents involve drinking and driving?!?!? Tons every year.
How many accidents are related to weed?
Personally, I don't feel comfortable being high and driving. I do it at home and only at home.
Weed comes from the ground and it's illegal; Alcohol is MAN-MADE and legal.
I just don't get it. There should be a war on alcohol and NOT on drugs such as marijuana. I don't ever wanna touch any other drug besides marijuana.
And it sucks to seek around around like a criminal to score a bag of weed; as I see countless people like my Stepdad-drink and drive everyday and be drunk idiots. And think they can do that cause it's "LEGAL".
Your thoughts are welcomed. I tend to be labeled "the druggie" in my family as they give the "A-OK" to my StepDad cause it's legal.
He'd be better off smoking weed-for once his mouth would be shut. :D
Keep up the fight and be careful out there.
Thanks for reading-your thoughts are welcomed and best wishes to you all.

Alcohol comes from Hops so it does come from the ground, however they add all kind of shit to it so now that I cleared that up here is my opinion.......
I don't care Alcohol. I have a beer every now and then, but I can't stand being drunk. I can smoke bowl after bowl and still walk talk and drive for that matter. I can't hold liquor for NOTHING therefore I smoke.
The problem with weed is that most people see it as a gateway drug. They are wrong, and that is my opinion. I have been smokin for more then a decade can honestly say I have NEVER done another drug, EVER! Sure I've seen it been around it, but I have chosen not to use anything else. The word choice is key here b/c that is the problem. Weed gets a bad rap b/c most who do it, do other things too. Only you can make that choice forself. As for me I love weed sooooo much that I always knew better then to try anythin else. I feared I may love it too, and didn't want to be a crackhead.
As for being the druggie in your family, my family says the same thing about me, but they all get drunk as hell. What is the diffrence? One is legal one isn't. All I can do is try and make my substance of choice legal. After all Alcohol wasn't legal at one time so maybe some day weed will be.......at least I'm hoping
As for your stepdad, mine is an ass with or without any substance. I think your probably will be too. Some people are just natural born assholes. I wish you luck, and move the hell out as soon a possible, that's what I did. Until then, smoke, smoke, and smoke some more.......
and in case you didnt get my opinion, steer clean of the beer and pass me the bong!

Thanks soo much! My Mom says the same thing about weed-as it being a "gateway" drug and I know she worries cause she loves me.
I too have a beer every now and then-but I can't stand the after effects of it.
I tried this past Friday to have a beer and only took one sip and gave the rest to my boyfriend. : ) Thanks for you reply!
Passing the pipe to ya (I don't do well with bongs-heehee)...enjoy : )

weed IS a gateway drug!!!
not the weed itself ,obviously, but the fact that its illegal and because of this its commonly sold by dealers of other illegal substances as well
Because its illegal a lot of people try other drugs once they start smoking, like i did.
Imagine if u could buy it in a shop totally legit, taking it out of the hands of criminals completely, there would be no "cross-over" appeal whatsoever
It could be all grown on a huge scale, even after the government has taxed the shit out of it, it would still be cheap
The billions of dollars and man hours saved by not making cannabis related arrests plus all the tax money they would get would enable the government to fund and focus their efforts entirely on the real drug problems plagueing society.
This will never fucking happen however, as theres more money to be made by prohibition.
Never feel guilty for your 'lawless' habit because in reality it works like this:
The majority of drugs are relatively cheap to produce. They are very illegal and the penalties are high. This gives smugglers, traffickers, overlords etc an excuse to charge high prices, making untold profits.
If they were legalized, these people would go out of business. So they hope to god this never happens, they have so much money that it seeps into everything, even into to politics. They use heavily laundered money to influence civil servants and fund the election campaigns of various politicians of their liking.
These politicians are hardline and uphold the anti - drug laws, even strengthen them, thus pushing the price and profits up further.
The anti drug laws justify the existence of many government agencies, notably the DEA. Thousands of employees rely on their payroll and govt funding, what would happen if this was withdrawn?
The War on Drugs has cost untold billions in taxpayers money, money that has gone ito many areas of involvement, from weapons and technology manufacturers to endless troops/ field agents, commander in chiefs, police departments, military equipment, congressman, senators, even presidents.
Do these people want their monthly wage? hell yes.
As long as there is lots of money to be made, dont expect the laws to change anytime soon.
Here i am going off on a bloody tangent again, yeah to hell with alcohol, if everyone got stoned how many rapings/beatings would go on in our streets?
So yeah fuck it, light that shit up....

Yeah, alcohol is not my thing. I'll do it once in awhile, at parties, but after two drinks my stomach starts feeling like its on fire. And the fact that one of my best friends is an alcoholic doesnt make drinking that appealing either. its funny, because he used to smoke weed and he would be able to meet all of his academic and social obligations. Now that he drinks all the time, he has zero motivation and just stays home and does nothing. Isnt that what they say marijuana does to you????

I'm not into alcohol very much myself either. My mom doesn't drink and my dad only drinks once in a blue moon, only during social occasions and even then he only has a beer or two...never enough to become visibly drunk. Nevertheless, there was always alcohol in the house (people would sometimes gift my parents alcohol not knowing that they don't like to get drunk). They both used to smoke cigarettes and both quit before they started having children. But talk about stoners! My mom is the only person I know who smokes as much weed every day as I do. My dad doesn't smoke quite as much but he's still a daily toker.
They allowed me to make all my own decisions about what I wanted to put in my body since I became a teenager. However, they knew first-hand how addictive tobacco is so they signed a contract with me, my brother and my sister promising that if we didn't smoke tobacco, they would pay us $50 each every six months for the rest of our lives and would give us each $1,000 when we turn 21. To date none of us have tried it.
But I tried alcohol about five or six times in my teenage years and never really got a positive experience out of it so I just stopped altogether sometime in high school (well, I had a couple beers at my friend's graduation party after that but it tasted like shit and I haven't drank since then).
My junior year of high school my sister was smoking a bowl and I asked her if I could try it. She did, and I don't remember too much about that experience except that I coughed a lot. About a year after that I started smoking weed regularly myself, and the rest is history.
My parents are supportive of my decision to not drink, and they still smoke me up every time I see them. I couldn't have asked for better parents.

Oh man, dont even get me started on this one. My family is really into alcohol. My sister goes to bars and parties all the time, my parents drink a lot more than the average person, and my grandparents wake up with a martini. Everybody thinks it's OK just because it's legal! Where did this myth come from?!Personally, I dont like alcohol, it doesnt do anything for me except make me tired and give me a headache, and it's dangerous, pot on the other hand, only LOOKS dangerous to the public because it's been deemed illegal. It really pisses me off when people look at me as if I'm some rapist just because I do something that I enjoy, and makes me feel good, but is out of the norm.

Thats booze for you,it is the drug responsible for something like 80% of crimes committed ,it is the DRUG that CAUSES SCHIZOPHRENIA and many other mental disorders Your stepfathers attitude is typical of the perverted drug ALCOHOL's proponents they point the accusing finger and spout off rhetoric that we are sick when it is them and their alcohol promoting culture that are the real problem and are the sick ones check out my website for many alcohol related info. YOU TEST FIRST (http://www.youtestfirst.org/)
My new line of attack against these creeps is this.... Any one who wants to know what I do as an adult in the privacy of my own home is a SICK PERVERT with a SERIOUS MENTAL DISORDER,and should be institutionalized till the sickness is cured ,there pathetic sick bastards that don't deserve any pity but there perverted sickness is so serious as to be dangerous to other peoples health and wellbeing as well as liberty so they need medical treatment ,my guess is a good strong dose of Electro-convulsive therapy (lots of them) and it would be appropriate for them to be dosed up with a 1000mics of LSD whilst getting their electric shock treatments.

For sure. My Grandma was killed by a drunk driver and it sucks. I used to drink a lot but I was younger and now i loathe drinking. I'm the designated driver now though, cuz i dont want that shit happening to my friends.
