Hi everybody!
Im an old smoker, new grower :D
I have 2 plants on the go at the mo (bagseeds) and sarted 12/12 yesterday and i dont even know if they are female! lol any way, I've been lurking the forums for a while now, trying to answer my own questions but now i need some help from you nice guy's an' gal's if your willing :)
right firstly, my situation;
-----150W mh/hps (hps puts out around 16000 lumens) (I can run both from this balast)
-----2x1.5 feet space
-----whatever nutes homebase sells lol
-----and 2 plants
-----oh and its a soil grow
I worked out that every square foot i have (3) gets just over 5000 lumens each. (I think this is enough to produce quality stuff, just not loads of it)
the plantrs seem to be different strains (one looks like its leaning more sativa the other more indica going by the leaves but the indica is taller!)
i veged them for about a month, they got to about 6-8 inches tall with 6-7 nodes and then i switched to 12/12 my first question is........is this okay? the plants seem healthy and i know you can force flowering any time, even from seed, but i am aiming for about 2 oz per plant and the second question is.........given my situation, is this a realistic target for a new grower? if not can you sugest what i should be aiming for ( i dont wanna get my hopes up lol)
LIGHTING
as we all know HIDs get hot, real hot and i was wondering if putting a thin perspecs sheet between the light and the top of the canopy would alow me to get the plants closer to the light to try and get around the inverse law or would the plastic eat too much light, making the heat gard pointless?
I think thats all i need to know for know (for now at least :P )
thanx in advance for any answers x

Kinda lost me on that question... Could you post a pic of what you have done? That way it would be understood what is happening or not...:hippy:

Correct feeding is one of the main factors. Watch their NPK values, choose by that. More P and K for flowering. I'm sure you can find that info
I worked out that every square foot i have (3) gets just over 5000 lumens each. (I think this is enough to produce quality stuff, just not loads of it)
Yes this is more than enough. You can run both for the last month of flowering if you feel needed. MH effective on quality.
the plantrs seem to be different strains (one looks like its leaning more sativa the other more indica going by the leaves but the indica is taller!)
Try to keep them in same high for them to share equal light. Otherwise one can average on the other and dominate. But, your cabinet looks small for two plants. Maybe enough for small size plants. You may need to do some training.
i veged them for about a month, they got to about 6-8 inches tall with 6-7 nodes and then i switched to 12/12 my first question is........is this okay? the plants seem healthy and i know you can force flowering any time, even from seed, but i am aiming for about 2 oz per plant and the second question is.........given my situation, is this a realistic target for a new grower? if not can you sugest what i should be aiming for ( i dont wanna get my hopes up lol)
I didn't get what you asking but yes its ok 12/12 anytime. They'll keep growing in 12/12 too. They get bigger 2-3 times more than now.
That's possible to get 2 oz per plants depends on conditions.
as we all know HIDs get hot, real hot and i was wondering if putting a thin perspecs sheet between the light and the top of the canopy would alow me to get the plants closer to the light to try and get around the inverse law or would the plastic eat too much light, making the heat gard pointless?
I don't know much about HIDs but I don't think there can be a real heat issue with 150W.
That sheet can reflect back some light. Better use glass. But only that can't be helpful on heat if there is no cooling fan for the bulb. Also distance of glass from the bulb is another factor on cooling.
And yes, +1 GaGrown. Picture.

hi guys thanxs for the replys
sorry I wasn't too clear with what i was asking  also i would post a pic but cant right now  no camera at the mo
as for nutes ive been using a 5-5-5 fert and did beefed it up with some amonia nitrate for the veg stage and have just started foliar feeding (they freaking LOVE this)......I'm not using the amonia stuff now as im trying to get them to flower (8 days of 12/12 and no sign of sex yet) but i also havent been able to boost the K and P at all..... every fert i seem to find is 5-5-5 or 10-5-5......all either equal or N heavy so i guess im just gonna have to keep useing the 5-5-5 through flowering
yeah my cab is quite small, but I've managed to keep them small for now, and its working for me...I'm tieing them down, and around the pot now, and they have grown ALOT quicker since switching to 12/12 just no sign of sex yet, but i hear this can take up to 20 days....especialy given i tryed to flower them so small, i guess they just wernt ready for it.
If they are both female i am aiming to to get an oz or 2 off of each plant
my question is just..... given that this is my first grow, and how im growing it would 1-2 oz per plant be a realistic target? or am i loking at yielding more like half oz per plant or less? i just want a realistic target for my first grow, i can alter this target on the next grow based on how this one goes, but for now i have no idea what to expect.....sorry im so long winded, i just thought i better give you guys as much info as poss :hippy:
thanx again

Most cell phones have the capacity for taking pictures. Maybe try that? Any picture is better than no picture. ;)

hiya!
yeah most do, but mine doesnt  im rockin' the retro nokia 3210 at the mo......i love this phone :D camera or not (I can play kick ups with it and it still works fine) lol so pics are a real no-no......no possible way of ever putting pictures up sowwy :sorry1:
so no one can say if this is a realistic "first timer target" without a picture?
is a picture really that important to this kind of question? I mean the grow is going fine as far as i can tell, so i dont need help with difficientcy probs or anything like that, no weird spots........ just a whole bunch of nice deep green leaves and stuff, i dont think they could look any healthier....... I dont need help with sexing coz they are not even showing yet and im not aiming for a "perfect grow" I just want to learn a little, and just need something realistic to aim for the first time..... so why do i need to post a pic so bad?
thanx again peeps xx
