Watering Plants With Snow Melt (http://site.cleanairgardening.com/info/watering-plants-with-snow-melt.html)
If you live in an area that gets substantial amounts of snow in the winter, treat your houseplants to some melted snow every once in a while.
Experiments at the Siberian Botanical Garden have revealed that veggies watered with snow melt grow twice as fast as those fed regular water. Similarly, a recent NASA study revealed that snow melt triggers huge aquatic plant blooms in the ocean. It seems that snow contains about 40% fewer water molecules with a heavier-than-normal form of hydrogen called deuterium than normal water does.
For reasons having to do with the way that plants take up water molecules, this â??heavy waterâ? tends to slow down growth, while snow melt is easier on the plant. It all sounds like science fiction, but itâ??s a perfectly natural process that you can easily take advantage of.
.................................................. .................................................. .
I have switched to melted snow (for those of us who get snow in the winter) for now to water my plants. She grows in natural light (slowly this time of year) however, the melted snow seems to increase the rate of her growing. I did some research and found out this is a well know fact that snow makes for really good water. Please correct me if I'm wrong I'm no expert but I've heard since snow comes from higher up in the atmosphere and has a slower decent then rain that it collects more nitrogen, etc then regular rain. Here's an article that I found and will post here. Just wondering has anyone else tried this and what were the results.
WATER CUCUMBERS AND RADISHES WITH MELTED SNOW
Experiments carried out in the Siberian Botanical Garden showed that cucumbers and radishes, watered with melted snow, grew twice as fast as the control plants watered with ordinary water. Similar results occurred in experiments with wheat.
Why is melted snow better for plants than ordinary water? Snow contains about 40 percent less heavy water or deuterium oxide than normal water. Deuterium (symbol of D) is a heavy isotope a form of hydrogen, but slightly different. When combined with oxygen it does not form the water molecule, H2O; instead the molecule D2O is formed. Normally, about one water molecule in every 6,000 is found to be a heavy water molecule. But somehow the formation of snow removes many of these heavy water molecules.
Scientists have discovered that D2O slows down some chemical and biological processes. So, when heavy water molecules are removed, plants seem to grow faster.

then the counter respone:
Acid rain is a rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic, i.e. elevated levels of hydrogen ions (low pH). It can have harmful effects on plants, aquatic animals, and infrastructure through the process of wet deposition. Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids. Governments have made efforts since the 1970s to reduce the release of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere with positive results[citation needed]. However, the nitrogen oxides can also be caused naturally by lightning strikes, or the release of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere by volcano eruptions.
higher Ph from pollution can be bad for your plant.

Thats a chestnut eyes, banana mouth snow woman :)
And yes, thats the tub, left for melting. 90 liters of water she gave me.
I actually collected for flushing but turned out I don't need that for my organic gardening. After that I was using time to time by mixing with tap water. Thanks to this thread, from now on I'll be using more often.

Well thankin yu pilgrem and like I be sayin I be usein rain water be runnin off my shed roof into a bucket with dead bugs and twigs and leaves in it in the summer and be scoopin all the snow up from around my shed to be waterin my plants during winter. I scoop it and fill a bin in my grow area that nice and warm and it melts away ready fur use. To this date I never had a problem with me water quality but like I be sayin thats just me and i be rough around the edges other prim and propers here be growin the WEED under strickt highly be sanitized conditions and thats what they be likin to do and I dont have a single bad thing to be sayin bout that its there way just as mine is my way and I do produce great smoke my ways just as I be sure they producin great smoke in thers. At the end of the day it be smoke worth smokin and be helpin curein what ails ya. No desrespect to any growers here at days end we all be init fur the same reason.

absolutely true. i dont think anyones gonna disrespect you for using water with dead bugs and twigs in it. Everyone has their own way of doing things and imo its just that much more "natural" or "organic" so props bro. You definitely do have your 100% everything sanitary guys but hey thats their style and if makes them feel better about it and still produce the medicine we're all after than whats the problem with it? Why judge.
