Hey everybody, this is my first post. I was wondering why a weed tincture works while eating plain weed doesnt have any effect. I know weed has to be heated to have an effect, but when making a tincture using the freezer method, I didn't think any heat was required.

If anybody knows, that'd be down :hippy:

I have made alcohol- based freezer tinctures, that turned out great! Some people like to "toast" the weed, before beginning the tincture process (converts THCA to THC, they say - but there are good medical reasons to believe that THCA is a good thing and also adds to the high.

So, I would do whichever you prefer, since both ways work. I've made tinctures with and without the "toasting". Strength seemed the same, but the green one didn't have that cooked-weed taste.

Good Luck!

I get quite high eating raw weed that's never been heated.

Either method works, so does justing putting some weed in a jar or bottle and letting it soak in alcohol for 30 days or more. However applying heat will speed the process to minutes instead of weeks or months.

My friend makes awesome tincture by soaking buds in booze. He soaks it for months then drains it, strains it and adds fresh buds for a couple more months. Just 2 ml of this tincture will rock you within a few minutes after ingesting. It tastes nasty so I put it under my tongue. By the time the tincture is gone my tongue is numb. A couple of minutes later I am high.
