When to trim and how often?

I know, it seems like a google thing, because everyone trims at different times. if you get a clone, and its doing good, when do you trim it?

I suppose it depends on how tall you want them to be at flowering time.
On average, I trim mine at 8" or so, and then again at flowering transfer time.
