This one is for those of us who cherish and love mother earth like our god. In fact, she is my god. I worship and thank mother earth everyday that walk outside and smell the fresh scent of pines and dirt! I consider myself a "naturalist" in a strictly spriritual sense. I am a naturalist in my profession (ecological restorationist in pine forests), but most definitely in sprit, I am one with mother earth, as is everyone. There are some awesome biological implications of this, but to keep it spriritual, I love mother earth! All you out there that love mother earth, post here. Let it be known.....

Thanks for the replies. I am such an environmentally aware person, and there is nothing worse than bad land management practices to screw everything up. I am truely passionate about my environment!!! I work with forest restoration and management issues as an undergraduate research assistant here in Arizona, and I just can't stress enough that we are screwing ourselves every damned day!! I mean, I am only 20 years old, and I realize that. So thank you Dingo and Peji, you guys in my mind are true earth friendlies. If we treat her nice, she will treat us nice......
Go hiking soon, and just kiss the dirt (if you are down with that) and just thank mother earth for her bounties and making our lives possible. I guarantee that you will feel so good about yourself and just be a happy person overall. Hike, smoke weed, and love everything!!!

YES!!! I do love Mother Earth. Religions tend to forget about her. Except mine!!!!!!! I said in another post I'm Pagan. So we hold Mother Earth dear to our hearts. In a sense we came from the "mother". Mother earth is the creator. She in a sense is also the reaper. Humans are as much a part of mother earth as the trees and the grass. And when we stop living one way or another we go back into her. But do we really stop living after death? If you think about it we never die. We turn into the dirt and then become nourishment for the little creatures that live in the soil. Even trees. And although our flesh dies and decays yet our spirit well we know that never dies. Hmm. Ok I'm thinking too deeply here. STONER MOMENT!

Well not only do we worship life on earth. We also worship the moon goddess. And the sun god. Well those are nature as well. Nature expands far beyond earth. The mother earth, space, stars, planets they are all connected in the circle of life. Earth being the only planet with life.....as far as we know. But that fact alone makes us forget about other planets. But without our moon and our sun we would not exist. So we worship ALL things.

Man made beer, earth made weed. Who do you trust??? That is a question i heard from a friend. I live in the states and right now i am lookin for a nice plot of land to help save. Its gettin hard to find a large plot of land in the states to buy to save. im lookin for about 40 acres for forest land just so i can build a shack and live like Walt Whitman
joker121

I think it was actually THopreau who built the shack on his friend Ralph Waldo Emerson's land at Walden Pond.
Whitman did live out on his own though, as far as I know.

I like the earth, but I also like hunting, but I eat what I kill and do not kill for sport. Although I dont litter and try to destroy the earth I just feel its sort of useless since in a few hundred maybe thousand years the suns gonna have its supernova and gobble this bitch up, if we dont nuke it all to hell first. But I do love nature, at home in northern Maine's beautiful woods is where I spent most of my time, walking around seeing the wild animals and different varieties of plants....its a damn shame were gonna end up destroying it all in the end.

I trust anything the earth provides for man. Beer is not a natural occurence, its a man-made item. Sort of ironic that it's one of the biggest killers (talking bout drunk driving)
i love mother nature, there nothing more i like to do, than admire nature's beauty. I've for a long time, wanted to become something like a forest ranger, or a park ranger, move to the wilderness (maine, vermont, canada) and just live by myself in the wilderness (maybe outside a small town) maybe i'll find a wife that wants the same thing, and we'll just live together in peace, and not have to worry about being blown up, or nuked. just live off the land, maybe have a few pets...thats my all time dream.

Beer in itself is not a naturally occurring liquid but alcohol is. My school days were a long time ago but I know all fruit ferments while decaying producing alcohol. Just thought I'd mention it.

"all fruit ferments while decaying producing alcohol."
"yeah but man made alcohol, it doesn't grow in trees, doesn't flow from rivers, its a man made substance"
Nature makes it too, and in many cases it does grow on trees. Apes are often seen drunk after eating fermenting fruit and the clever little buggers have started stealing drinks from people because they recognise the taste.
I hate the stuff but nature creates alcohol as well as cannabis.

So here in northern Arizona, we have a rather large mountain for the desert, Mt. Humphreys. And the southwest US as most of you know is a cultural hotspot for diversity with regards to Native American Tribes. Over 13 Tribes in the Southwest hold this mountain sacred because it is such a prominent structure on the horizon. Recently, the Forest Service (which I love and hate all the time) had passed a proposal to make snow on the mountain at a local ski resort (Arizona Shitbowl, I mean Arizona Snowbowl...) with RECLAIMED water. Basically, they are going to put piss water on a mountain that many thousands of Native American and others (including myself) hold sacred. This mountain is life, as is all of Mother Earth. I get so much good energy every morning from her. I just look up and realize that even though we are screwing nature over right now, this is just a temporary thing, we will be gone, and the mountain will remain. But is enrages me that we are so stupid as to tinker with all the parts and not aknowledge them (and Aldo Leopold fans?). People in northern Arizona support this. They want to go skiing on terd snow with all kinds of pharmaceuticals that we piss into the reclaimed water system that the city does not test for (hormones, viagra, all the shit some of us would not want in our system). What do you all think about this? This is definitely to me a case of the US Gov't and the Native Americans (oh, by the way, I am like 1/32 Delaware and some part, although not confirmed but I know, Cherokee and Cheyenne) and will boil down to genocide against these peoples who are far better citizens than the average american (who is a fat lazy money hungry fool who doesn't care for Mother Earth). Tell me, am I crazy, or is this totally wrong? For more info go to www.savethepeaks.org, such a good cause, local or not. May the herbstock we have been given from Mother Earth enlighten you and make you one of Mother Earth's warriors some day...

your assumptions on reclaimed water are highly inacurate

i think that what they want to do with the mountain isnt really a good idea but seriously...what can you do about it? u can bitch all you want and nothing will change...so why bitch?

There are several professors here at the Northern Arizona University that have published research regarding the effects of wastewater on animals. They have found extreme levels of various pharms and high levels of hormones in the water that can cause various birth defects. These professors are chemists and biochemists (NAU has a really good research program and research faculty regarding chemistry and biochemistry). There have been published peer reviewed studies showing that wastewater is not good. Would you drink piss water? I agree that it does no good bitching. I have submitted my reply to the EIS that was published on a study regarding adding water to the mountain (its ecological and chemical effects). The study was done in 2 years, so that is pretty bogus. Effects take a while to show. I am also an avid ecologists and had my two cents to put in on the EIS (that is an environmental impact statement). So, there you go. I am very active regarding this issue and have read lots of scientific and anthropological papers (most of which are peer reviewed). Don't underestimate me kronik. And that website, different cities do different treatments to the water. The city of Flagstaff does not test for pharms or hormones. Plus, would you believe everything that a city who is money hungry tells you? I will find a link to that research I am talking about regarding research done on reclaimed water here at NAU. Thanks for the reply!

"Concentrations of OWCs detected in
finished water generally were low and did not exceed Federal drinking-water standards or lifetime health advisories,
although such standards or advisories have not been established for most of these compounds. Also, at least 11 and
as many as 17 OWCs were detected in samples of finished water.Drinking-water criteria currently are based on the
toxicity of individual compounds and not combinations of compounds.Little is known about potential human-health
effects associated with chronic exposure to trace levels of multiple OWCs through routes such as drinking water. The
occurrence in drinking-water supplies of many of the OWCs analyzed for during this study is unregulated and most of these compounds have not been routinely monitored for in the Nationā??s source- or potable-water supplies. This
study provides the first documentation that many of these compounds can survive conventional water-treatment
processes and occur in potable-water supplies."
This was a study done in march of 2004 by several scientists who work for the US Geological Survey (USGS). It indicates that there are interactions we have no clue about. And, that our testing standards suck. I can make a word document of the whole study for you (this is to Kronik and anyone else interested). It is wordy and full of scientific jiberish that probably only a select few understand, but the implications are what drew me in. Chew on this for a bit. The name of the paper is "Persistence of pharmaceutical compounds and other organic
wastewater contaminants in a conventional drinking-watertreatment
plant". Look it up on the net. OWC means organic wastewater contaminants. Peace to all...

Ahh, but there is a reason. I hold Mother Earth sacred. So why would a christian save there church from a fire? I am sorry about being overbearing on the issue. I like people to feel like they know more from an experience. And if no one did anything, then we would live in a shitty world. Think about the Green movement in the 60's. If that didn't happen, which took lots of believers and earth worshipers, then we would have twice logged over forests with nothing but bare exposed hurt earth.
kronick
04-04-2005, 02:15 PM
im not talking about what happened then...im talking about whats happening now. you try and get shit changed...nothing happens...hence....what you are trying to do it for nothing. its like the christian running into that burning church to save the priest...and then the church colapses on him/her. so once more time(hopefully)...whats the point?
dont get me wrong...i love the earth with all of my being...but the people who control it dont...and the only thing we can do about it really, is vote...and even then, the morons we vote for still wont do shit but they do other good things. so we need those morons and eventually someone good will come around and try to help the planet. eg. the canadian government...we kick ass! :D
cortezbuddha
04-05-2005, 01:48 AM
Well, I am kinda glad that I care enough to TRY to do something. I feel like a much better person because of it. If you don't, then great. I could really care less. But think about the opposite of the situation you set for me. What happens if the priest is saved, then wasn't the time well spent? You only provide one side of the story. But, by assessing your age, which I am only a year and some odd months older, you haven't experienced life yet. You must really not know why activism is a plus in society (esp. US society). I don't know what it is like in Canada, but if you don't do anything here, then you will just get stepped on. Persistence is key. Without it, nothing gets done. And also, because those morons in office don't know a tree from their asshole, we lay people have got to do something about it. Twidling our thumbs is not a very feasable option. Be active, care, and something will happen, believe me.

i do fucking give a shit about this planet. i would give my life for her in a heartbeat. like u said...ur only a year and a bit older than me...and if i kno thats not enough time between us for you to assume that you have experianced more "life" than i have. prove that wrong.
and i do understand when u say "What happens if the priest is saved, then wasn't the time well spent?" im stupid for neglecting that aspect of it. now all i have to do it think of a better analogy on what im trying to say. now im just too lazy to type anymore so ill just respond to what ever you have to say next.

Nice picture. Is that Colorado, Utah? I don't know the last thing about Druidism. I am mostly into believing that through my understanding of my connection with Mother Earth, both scientifically and spiritually (I meld some traditional Navajo and Hopi with Buddhism and Modern Pantheism, thats a way to describe, but it isn't it...), that I must revere this as divine and sacred. I used to be a punk ass kid, but now I feel like I have matured enough to realize that my impacts make a difference beacause I am so connected. I needed to show more respect to earth and those that worship Her. It is my way of looking at the world. Hope you enjoy this bit. I am pretty high right now. This moment is so profound. I almost wish we were in the woods somewhere in the high lands of southern Utah and had some peyote to chew on. I think that the connection would be more deeply understood, but I know that you must have this already. The peyote would only show it more...
