I am hoping for some input on how I should do my lighting. Below is a diagram of the area I am working with. I basically realized that I had some unused space beneath a stairwell that lead to the garage. I ended up extending a wall by 3 feet to create an area with separation for a Veg, flowing, and clone area. Let me state right from the beginning that my goal is for maximum quality and maximum wield. The space for my Veg room is 52?L x 33?W x 62?T, so I definitely have a limited height in that room. I would prefer to do MH, but what is the average height of a fixture? Perhaps 12?? Add the fact I will need another foot or so spacing to the top of the girls and we are talking a maximum plant height of 38? from the floor. With this issue I was considering perhaps one of those 8 tube 4 ft. T5 fixtures. For the Budding room, height is no issue. I will definitely be using HPS in here.
The growing area is 52?L x 33?W x 96?T. What would be the maximum wattage advisable for this area? All of this space will be sealed. So I will be using A/C, Co2.

The questions that I am trying to get answers for this first post are;

What are the idea lights for my two main rooms?

How much better are MH compared to T5 CF for the Veg Stage?

What is the maximum wattage for HPS advisable for a room that is
52?L x 33?W x 96?T?

Those T5's 8 tube 4 footers are awsome and in my opinion way better than a a big MH. They stay cool, don't really burn plants, no ballast and are pretty reasonable with regard to price. You can easily veg 24 inch plants under them. You might consider giving more space width wise to the flower space and shrink you veg area a bit. You'll need it. You can take care plants during veg in a fairly small place but when you flower, the pots get bigger, plants bulkier and may not be able to be moved around easily. Also if you have to tie them up with some heavy hangers it really gets tough to shift around. Give yourself some room in flower area. Depends on how may plants you wanna veg but, T5's 6 tube may be better. It's less wide. Good luck. Pictures would be cool. I just realised that the room is done. Walls are up??? Or is this just a design? All those lights... ventilation/air will be key. Hope this helps. A little.

Yes, it really does help. Unfortunately the walls are up and I really am left to go down the road I am on as far as space goes.

Here is another question I have. I am keeping the room sealed to be able to keep the Co2 as close to ideal as possible. I was wondering if people ever did this. So I have seen the HPS fixtures that have both an inlet and exit for like 6" duct work. Does anyone have a sealed room that has a close loop system just to vent the heat from the fixtures. I know I did not describe that clearly. What I mean is they have and inlet into the sealed room that is connected to duck work that goes from one fixture to another, then to a vortex, then out of the room. The reason I was considering this is to vent a majority of the HiD heat out of the space without sucking atmosphere out of the room. Is it possible to seal the duck work well enough that is would not pull air from the room.

Here are a couple pics, like I said walls are up for the most part.

The biggest flaw I see is the dimension of your rooms. How many mothers are you going to have?
Your largest room should be the flowering room. The veg and the moms can be in one room, since they use the same light. when vegging, the plants are small, so you don't need as much room just for them... I would suggest putting the mom's and veg together in one room, and doubling the size of the flowering area.....and your equipment should be in the room(s), not in a separate room. I would say a 400 or 600w MH would be great for a 3'x4' area.

Learn the basics first before starting with CO2.

So the next question would be what is the recommended wattage for HPS for a 4x3 area?

Also, just to know, what would be the maximum recommended wattage for that same area?

LED in the veg/mom room....T5's or MH are waste of money...been using LED in the grow room for 3 years and people who get clones from me will not use another source after getting my LED grown plants....they are greener...tighter nodes and healthier root zones compared to other lighting sources i have used :thumbsup:

in flower use a 1000w HPS and if you can supplement w/some LED light in your flower room....the combination of both lights is the closest thing to actual sunlight inside :jointsmile:

A 400w or 600w hps will be plenty for that size room...I use a 400hps in a 4'x5'x7' with excellent results flowering 4 to 6 plants. Truthfully, you don't need a special area for clones/mothers...just a shelf or two in the veg room is usually fine for clones, and mothers are not that particular...I move mine all around the veg room and just rotate them 2-3 times a week. More flowering room would be nice, but what you have will work. Personally, I like a veg room I can move around in as this seems to be where I spend the most time working with the plants, (cloning, topping, FIMing, etc.) and it's nice to have the clones, mothers and veggin stuff all in one room. Good Luck with this!:)
