View Full Version : Really weird problem with flowers

Hey everyone!
I'll try to write this as neat as possible.

The problem: All of the future flowers (They're still vegetating, though they have already shown pre-flowers) suddenly bent to one side in an acute angle.

What I did: I normally put all my plants on my pool's border. Today I noticed that one of them was completely bent opposite to the pool so I checked it out and realised that it needed water. So I watered my plants and just to experiment I turned them 180º so that the side that normally faces the pool's water was now facing the grass.

Result: I checked them 15 minutes later and as I said, suddenly all of their future flowers were bent towards the grass (and not towards the pool). It was really quick.

My theory: Maybe the pool's chlorine harms the plants in some way and they reacted to that by protecting their flowers or something. Chlorine evaporates, plus the pool's fan was on and there was bubbling water thus almost microscopic water drops fly through the air.

I would like to know what are your thoughts, if it is a problem what could it be, how to fix it, what are your impressions, etc. etc.

Thanks and have a nice day!

They are trying to escape the chlorine fumes coming off the water....was it an especially hot sunny day? The Sun and warmer temps make chlorine evaporate faster than normal and it sounds to me like they didn't like it much...I've not grown any around a pool, but just from observing plants around mine, some plants are very sensitive to the chlorine fumes and some it doesn't bother at all. Try moving them further away from the pool and see what happens.

Thanks! I thought something like that could be going on. I've got a small space where to put them (Probably that's the only place unless I do something) because anywhere else they can be seen from my neighbour's second floor. Damn... I'll turn off the water heater tomorrow.

Anyway some conclusions; they've practically always faced the same way so now that I changed them they reacted. Probably they can get used to chlorine little by little or if they are exposed to it since they germinate. Anyways I won't expose my babies to chlorine unnecessarily.

Just now I checked them out, it's night so they're sleeping (their leaves are down and relaxed) and their flowers are straight again =)

It may sound stupid but still it amazes me how this things are actually alive.

Cannabis are like humans they smell, they sweat, and if they dont like something they try to tell you, but most of all they try to protect themselves. Anything you dont like and makes you itch or cough, or even just stinks they usualy think the same, chlorin will kill a person and a plant. thanks for sharing this finding I will tell some people that grow buy their pool, I am sure they have had the same thing happening.

I'm not surprised they look normal during the night....chlorine evaporation goes way down without direct sunlight on the water so there is much less evaporation and less chlorine in the air around the pool...it sounds like your suspicions were correct...now go get a ladder and a can of black spray paint and go paint your neighbors window black....NO! Just kiddin! LOL! :D
