What is Scrog?

So many posts talk abolut using scrog but what the hell is it and how do I set it up? I have very limited space my box is 24" in height but only about 18" between the light and the hydro unit. Please forgive the ignorance but I am a total newbie and want to get the most yield i can. i am tired of my 'friends' selling me 8th's for $60.

I believe that 18 inches is indeed enough space for a small scrog, depending on the light source that you have. If it is LED, you need only 2-3 between plant and light, but if it is cfl, up to about 85w, you will need to have about 8 inches between light and plant so you dont burn the babies,, ie: not much room left for lst and proper veg growth.
