I am in process of building a smallish (500 sq ft) greenhouse. I am going to use plastic as a covering.

I notice that pix's of other ghs's that I see have the milkey covering on them, not the clear plastic. The specs that I am able to find shows that the milkey type allows about 90% of the light thru.

Question is this: Why not use the clear plastic? Isn't more light better than less?

go for the clear plastic.
most gh films/plastics are 6ml clear plastic.
these films are rated to last 4 years, after the first season they become cloudy, kinda white.. the more sun they get, the cloudier they get
you could of saw a pic of a weathered gh.

nursuries do use white plastic. this is mainly used to overwinter perenials, shrubs and trees. nusuries will also paint their gh white in the summer months to shade them and prevent heat build up.

hope this helps... happy growing

So, since they become cloudy after the first season - do I need to replace the film every season?

hmmm?
