well since we are new to growing we are having a poroblem and can't seem to figure it out.

we have a clone that some of the leaves are turning yellow and dropping down..we are using hydroponics and our levels seem to be spot on...we are thinking that the plants are needing more nitrogen and have added same but the plants still are not improving..especially my banner clone....any ideas for us to look harder at..

Need more info or at least some pics of the plant and set up to help you...the more info we have the better we can help!

As the clones are waiting to build roots they have to consume the nutrients stored in the leaves of the clone. We always leave a leaf or two on the bottom that we know will be withered away as the clone develops new growth.

Also, cutting the stem at a 45 degree angle, and using a razor blade to make the cut will help the seedling uptake water from the cloner.

Other than that, post a pic and we'll take a peek.

Edit: In rereading your post, it seems you have clones in soil. As a guess, the most common problem is overwatering. Give them a little drink, dont drown them.

I should quit posting before I finish my coffee :)

how old are the clones?
have the roots taken to their new environment?
whats your ph?
any signs of mold, rot, fungus and or pests?
whats you current nute schedule?
which leaves are affected top, bottom, big leaves, or tips?
what is your humidity, temps and the like?
what kind of water are you using?

answer these and we might get somewhere, pics would be a help also.

best of luck:thumbsup:

Are you giving the plants enough o2 with airstones in hydro? What is the humidity level in the room?

Here are some of the answers for Denverbear
The clones have been in a flood table for 6 days.
The clones are approx 5 to 6 wks old.
It appears that the clone has taken to its environment.
The PH is from 5.95 - 6.47. When the ph is above 6.20 it is adjusted to 6.10.
No signs of fungus, mold, rot or pests.
Technaflora nutrients fed every 4 hrs.
Humidity has been tough from 82% - 54%. Room temp right around 80.
Water? Tap water.
I hope this helps hate to lose this one

The other plant is approx 2' and it appears that small yellow lines are showing up on the leaves (not spots) and they appear to be spreading over the leaves. These leaves are just up from the bottom leaves, the edges are slightly yellow with the leaves appearing to start to turn yellow.
This plant is in an ebb n grow and approx 8 weeks old.
The PH is 5.95 - 6.20 haven't had to adjust the ph.
No signs of fungus, mold, rot and I saw one fly and sprayed with Safer, so far one time only.
Technaflora nutrients fed every 4 hrs. Different nutrients from clone.
Hunidity has been from 40% to 50%. larger room easier to control.
Tap water
We would appreciate any input that would help. tks

you look fine from the pics, cloning is a stressful time for plant tissue so be patient and dont burn them from being over zealous with nutes. your ph should be lower(5.5-5.8). temps should be 65-75. humidity you had two different comments about. other than some minor adjustments your good to go. increase feed as the roots take.

humidity when the T5 is on is about 80 pct for 18 hours a day apprx....could the high humidity be a problem ?

that humidity is too high for sure. you need to move some air through the space. you'll end up with gnats and/or powdery mildew. I doubt that is the cause of the yellowing.

no bugs, right?

hmmm, clones are 5 to 6 weeks old? What kind of lighting are you using? They look kinda smallish for 6 weeks old...but that may just be the strain.

Yellow lines could be N, P or S lacking, but not really seeing it in these pics.

did you transplant recently?

the one on the left looks like it's been choked out in a container that was too small for it....

looks deficient but improving.....

and the edge burn on the other leaves, do you let your tap water set out for a while before you change your res??

chlorine will burn your leaves and is abundant in fresh tap water

oh i see, i thought it was six to seven days. you are stunted and your humidity is way too high. its probably higher with lights off. add a fan and sounds like you need an exhaust system and fresh air intake. yellowing i dont think is the issue, your lacking growth so uptake in the roots is lacking which is causing the yellowing. see how advanced your roots are if possible. get rid of tap water if feasible, adds to your ppm which allows less to be absorbed by the root system. like junk food for bud. your feeding 6x a day maybe cut back one and see if that helps. we still need info on how much your feeding nute wise. the fact you have not had to adjust ph suggests also there is not much uptake so try a leaching solution to minimize salt build up (clearex is one i know of.) high humidity can cause lack of respiration aka slow growth so definately start with that, lower ph and heat just a tad, and get a leaching solution. dont worry your salvageable.

 Thanks for all of the input. I made a few changes. This input is for the plant on the left, I have lost a couple of the bottom leaves and a few others are starting to turn yellow. I vented the room and my humidity is now at 50%, inside temp 78 and ph 5.55. I am using 80% technaflora nutrients, which consists of (15 gal resv) Boost 120 ml, Grow 60 ml, Thrive alive red 20 ml, Magical 20ml and Sugar Daddy 80 ml. I let my tap water sit for 2 days and added the new nutrients this morn.

Even though your PH and humidity arent ideal I dont think that is the problem. Your pics arent clear but it looks to me like a deficiency, possibly calcium or magnesium. You say they've been in a flood table for 6 days but are 8 weeks old? Did you just get them?

the plant was a clone received in a plastic cup in rock wool in medium. I had it in the cup for approx 1 1/2 wks and transplanted it in hydroton. I was told that it was ready to be transplanted, so it's approx 3 - 4 wks old maybe 5. Here is a better look today, new nutrients today, I have already lost 2 leaves.

new growth looks fine. is it just an inch or two from the T5? it should be..

I dont think you have much to worry about, except it looks wet. I assume they aren't going under when you are flooding? I would just trim those lowers off.

it looks like its coming around, stick with your new method you should be alright . sometimes it helps to document things if your not already. good luck:thumbsup:
