Hey hows it going, Ive done a lot of research on this but I'm still unsure of the exact cause.

What is your experience level? novice

Your Equipment:
.1) Type and wattage of lights. 1k hps
.2) Distance from tops?6 inhes to 14 inches
.3) Reflector type? cool tube
.4) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?from outside yes 4inch intake
.5) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?8 inch 650cfm vortex fan...two window fans blowing directly under lights/over canopy but they do not rotate
.6) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule?hmmm not to sure but I run the 120volt setup I believe and there on 12/12 right now

Your medium:
.7) Specific brand and type of soil -peat based soilless sunshine#4
.8) Size of container.5 gallon
.9) Did you use peat pucks (or similar) to root clones or germinate seedlings?
clones

Your nutrients and water:
10) Source of water? tap right now, but started off w/ RO for 2 months
11) Method of checking water ph. ph pen
12) Method of adjusting water ph. PH Up/down
13) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.-Botanicare CNS Grow(3-1-2)Bloom(2-2-3)Ripe(1-5-4) and Liquid Karma(0.1-0.1-0.5) I feed them nutrient water once a week then ph'd water rest of week.wet entire medium
14) How often are you watering between feedings, and how much per watering?usually just one time between feedings, takes a good 4 days to dry out. I use 15 gallons for 12 plants(almost gallon and a quarter per plant)
15) Any additives or tea's? CalMag
16) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate?stable past month
17) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph?6.8 in 6.3-6.4out
18) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray?no

Your growroom:
19) Indoors or outdoors?indoor
20) What size of closet, room or hut?room
21) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off? (73-77f RH in 40's lights on) 62-68f RH high 40'slow 50's light off
22) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom?I did see some whiteflies but i sprayed w/ neem oil in first 2 weeks of flower and really havent seen since.

Your strain:
23) What strain are you growing? Chemdog, indica/sativa I believe
24) From seeds or clones?clones
25) Is this an autoflower strain? unsure...8 week strain i believe

Heat/light stress appears to be the problem. The plants' leaves are curling because it's trying to transpire as much as possible; this is called evaporative cooling.

Notice the lower leaves are not so much affected when compared to the higher leaves. 1000W is a lot of output! The lights being 6" from the canopy is far too close, even with a cool tube and fan blowing over the canopy; raise them 6"-12" and you should see improvement.

So what do you think would happen if I couldn't move the lights up? I am able to lower three plants(that are about 3ft) 6-7inches (more if needed) but the others are almost 4ft and lights are at the roof w/ no way of raising them...

what do you think the affects would be, would they just take longer to mature?obviously yield too i would guess, which is a bummer but not the worst thing as long as the quality is still ok...which is the last question, how might it affect quality?

Steez-
To answer your question in short, you don't want to risk it.

I strongly suggest you make every effort to get those plants further away from the light. If you can't move the lights, move the plants by tying them down. The problem will only get worse and will most definitely result in having dead/dying plant matter if ignored. Dead plant material on your crop could potentially attract mold and other pathogens, which could destroy your entire crop!

It's hard to tell by the pictures how much room you have, but as a simple solution, I would clip some fan leaves below the burned/burning colas and replace the colas in their place by tying them down. You could try clipping off the burning colas too as a last resort; this would avoid having dead plant matter, but will obviously substantially affect your yield.

Good luck!

ouch, tie them down huh? I realized now that i just dont have enough room....period

here's a link to my grow log, you might understand my situation a little better w/ the pictures from the last 2 posts

http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/192385-steezy-log-1-a-2.html

how can I tell if there is dead plant matter on them?I dont see any mold or even smell it...but if you read my "smell story" in my log,I realize my roomates might have been having allergic reactions because of the dead plant matter/mold? Im not going to lie the leafs have been curling for ahwile now...maybe as long as a month...in fact now that i go back and look at my pictures I notice it all the way back to middle of November(sigh)...

well I have a real bad feeling about this now, but im going to start tying them down, this friday is the 50th day o fflowering(8week strain) I was thinking of starting the 2 week flush this friday...what do you think i should w/ that?

on another side note, that picture is the worst one, not all of the plants look that bad...as you can see from the pictures in the log, that is the only plany I did not rotate because it had the temp sensor on it....all the other plants were rotated every watering...This is now a salvage operation, lol

So i put the small ones on the floor, they are now 2ft away...I tied down all that I could...I have a wall a/c unit in the room....but its not positioned in a very convenient spot...so Im going to hook up a portable a/c unit i was planning on using next run...I can put something under it so that the cool air comes out right over canopy/under light...hopefully this will help too

thanks man, I really appreciate it

whats gonna happen is tht your colas will grow strait into the glass and mash themselves against it until you bend it or snap it over. Many growers are often forced to bend over and sometimes almost break there top colas to avoid them mashing there overhead.

looks like some heat problems, lst or low stress training, start bending the larg collas little by little every day with in a week you should, be able to get them a little lower by bending.

high stress training is what is need here, had to look it up,, you tie the main cola down with a twine or rope.
