I'm currently on disability because recently i injured myself at my former job. It was first thought to be a back strain but after an MRI, it came back positive showing 2 discs smaller than the rest which was caused from constant heavy lifting. The wear and tear is so severe that i have chronic pain in my lower back and shooting pains down my legs. The wear has also caused a nerve to be pinched or squished on my left side causing tingling and numbness. This has been going on for 6months and im due for a cortizone shot in a few weeks.
In my eyes, i think the chronic pain, the MRI results, and other personal info. given to doc is more than enough for a card. Marijuana is the only thing that helps me sleep and relax. Pills make me sick and throwup. I also have stomach/intestinal issues which is another reason why i stay away from narcotics. I'm nervous in approaching a doctor about it and getting a dirty response. Ive got a clean background, straight up person with nothing to hide.
Anyone have any advice? going thru lawsuit to help since my injury is permanent, not sure if having one would help.

There are a bunch of caregivers on this forum including myself who may be able to help you out. My suggestion is to read some of the old chats regarding caregivers who are looking for patients. You should be able to find out contact info by clicking on their screen name.

With all that heavy lifting, you've compressed your spinal discs. Physical therapy will probably help. Moist heat packs applied to your back will loosen muscles. I'm sure they're very tense. Stretching excercises will help. One important thing for your would be to get another line of work. A doctor's recommendation for this will get the state to pay for months of retraining. MJ is a different issue. I'd go for physical therapy and a different line of work if I were you. If you keep up the heavy lifting, you're going to end up requiring surgery. Trust me, I've been there. I changed jobs to save my spine.

Ive done 3-4months of physical therapy, that didn't do much. I'm waiting to get shots in my spine to see if that helps. I currently lost my job due to this injury.
