Even though I quit smoking a while ago, I still get bronchitis once or twice a year at least.
But this time I had bronchitis for an entire month and now it has turned into pneumonia. My doctor said that I should never smoke ganja again... like ever. I guess just because my lungs are too sensitive or I have mild asthma or something. I didn't want to take the time to try to explain to him what vaping is and how it works and how it is better than smoking, but this pneumonia is really scary and now I am worried I might not ever be able to vape again either since it is still going into the lungs. Thoughts?

My post was about vaporizing.... and wondering if I'll ever be able to vape again..... so I was a bit surprised to see it moved out of the vape lounge...
But if it will get more views here, thats cool. It would be nice if someone would reply. I know there is a cool respiratory therapist dude who posts in the vape lounge sometimes.... and I think Birdgirl is in the know about pulmonary function stuff.
Just sort of wondering if I am now confined to a life of edibles only.... ?

THC helps with asthma, it helps open your airways so you can breath easier. Cigarette smoke acts the exact opposite and constricts your airways which is why you always hear about how smoking really bad if you have asthma. I actually have medical because of my asthma.
I would suggest using a vaporizer so you don't have much tar going into your lungs over just smoking it, but the THC should actually help with your asthma. I've heard from multiple people that you get what you pay for with vaporizers so you most likely don't want to go cheap on one. A bubbler might work for now also. My lungs freak out if I use a pipe, and my lungs feel like they're on fire With my bubbler the water cools the smoke enough and catches and ash that might of been breathed in with a pipe.
Not sure if you smoke cigarettes, but I thought you should know I read something a while ago that said cigarettes and cannabis is suppose to make your lungs three times worse off then just cigarettes by themselves, but cannabis by itself actually helps your lungs.
P.S. Had pneumonia a few months ago, I feel for you.
edit: Just a quick fyi, indicas strains seem to help with asthma the most. Still trying to figure out what the best strain would be.

Historically, a tincture of cannabis indica was used to treat patients with acute and chronic bronchitis with good results. Keyword: "bronchitis" and "cannabis" in Google Books for a time period between 1850 and 1900. You will discover hundreds of articles published on the subject in medical journals. You should be able to find recipes, dosage amounts, when and how often to take, etc. along with doctors' case studies.
A tincture of cannabis is awful tasting stuff. Remember: "a teaspoon of sugar makes the medicine go down," comes from this same time period. I would suggest any other method of ingesting a concentrate of cannabis over a tincture.
All that said, I'm unsure if you are attempting an alternative treatment for bronchitis, or if you're just missing the euphoric effects of puffing cannabis. Of course, if this historical treatment doesn't result in positive improvements, it should at least give you good euphoric experience.
