Taking Strattera

I heard that if you take Strattera and smoke pot you can go into cardiac arrest. Anyone know if this is true? I also have heard that Strattera makes getting high like being on speed, is this true?

What you have heard is untrue. I used to take Strattera and I smoked while I was on it- no heart problems or any other problems. While smoking I also did not feel like I was on speed by any means. Strattera is a non-stimulant medication (for the treatment of ADHD), which puts it in a separate class from other stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin. To the best of my knowledge you can't get high off of it- which sucks for those of us who have perscriptions to Strattera rather than Adderall. As for smoking while on Adderall or another stimulant ADD/ADHD medication, I don't know if that has any effects, maybe another person can attest to that question.

do you know the doseage of the Strattera you were on? I'm just wondering because i am being put on Stratter and heard this through the rumor mill...
BTW, was your high any different when you were on Strattera?

I was taking the 40mg capusules- two of them a day. I never experienced any difference during smoking while on Strattera. If I remember correctly, Strattera doesn't build up in your blood stream, so if even if I didn't take if for a few days, I still didn't feel a difference when smoking. I tried breaking one of the 40mg capsules open before, making a line, and snorting it (it makes a big ass line)- but didn't feel any effects from doing that- just made my nose run like a bitch. I wouldn't suggest trying that. If it was a stimulant you'd be able to make some fat-ass lines with the 40mg capsules tho ;)

Ive looked all over the internet and cant find information on the affects of Strattera with marijuana. If anyone knows a pharmacologist or medical physician that would know could you ask them for me? thanks

I'm on 80 mg a day too and have had no ill effects. I haven't had problems with any prescription med and pot (and I've been on quite a few over the years)

this makes me feal quite i bit better, as i am only on 50 mg a day.

but if anyone could ask there physican or psychiatrist for me, this would be great because i cant talk to mine until late may, which really sucks.
