Hi all,
This is Mrs. Big, as he is currently sleeping :)
Big and I are recently married, 2 weeks yesterday!! :s2:
Our first dream wasn't a house or a new car, it was a grow dresser! And boy, does it look awesome!!
This is my first grow, his 3rd. I'll give you specs on the next post so I can verify exactly what we have in there.
We don't understand hydro so we're just using potting soil, we can't afford hps so we're using cfl's.
I've done a lot of reading up on LST so I'm taking charge of that aspect!!
Thats my intro, now to get you up to speed...
our lil sprouts are about a week old I think, we germinated them using the jiffy thingies from Home Depot and some on a paper towel.
We're just using bagseed, bagseed and a prayer!
We just transplanted them 2 days ago into actual planters that are ~4"x11" (I'll update) 2 to a planter. We currently have 3 planters with 2 sprouts each and 2 planters with 3 sprouts. I'm sure only a few will make it to full size, so we're overcompensating with 12 so we don't have to start over. (We had a LOT of seeds ;) )
Quite a few good-looking sprouts, I'll have pics soon-promise!
Theres 6 CFLs in there, I wanna say they're 100 watt (what the box says) but I'll verify that. Fan for air circulation (keep 'em dancing!), temp stays at ~80f and humidity ~35%
Stay Tuned, I know we'll need some guidance along the way.
Thanks and an early Happy Holidays to you and yours!!
Mrs. Big

I'll be watching, good luck. Bulbs are probably 23w (equivalent to 100w Incandescent.) Should be enough for now for sure though.

Hey all, Mrs. Big here!

This is just a lil clip of what our set up looks like. I just rigged a reflector for the main group of cfls, and finally got some decent cardboard to make the back.
I'm gonna try to make a short video every few days or so so you can really see what's going on in there :)
Thanks for your replies!

Yea!!!! Thats cool. What doyou guys fish for? While not growing your meds?
Me, sturgeon, Its getteing harder for me to do as I have major spine problems. These fish are huge. The largest one I caught was 13 foot long and took 3 hours and 3 guys to get that pic in my sig.
Grow on peeps, Have a great day.
Oh and welcome to the fun:D

....a video grow log.......welcome to Canna.Com...
1. Just a little free advice: 4 foot long Fluorescent tubes would work better for the first 3-4 weeks of vegging in those multi-plant, long rubbermaid? tubbs.
Ordinary shoplights in T-12 or T-8 are quite cheap and would cover those containers, better...IMO.
Multi-plants in one container can be a problem, too.
2. Any fluoro lights you use should be 6500k (Kelvin temp) for the first 3-4 weeks.
3. Good Luck...enjoy your grow.

They're not going to stay in those (.99 cents store ;) ) containers for long, since its bagseed we weren't sure of what was going to pop up! We can already tell which are our strongest seedlings and will be moving those guys to larger individual pots soon enough.
I threw away the packages but will check at walmarX what the kelvin temp is on those lights. They seem to be doing the trick right now, but we'll see about upgrading soon.
What do you think about the humidity? We live in a very dry climate, I could put like a wet towel in there to :ahem: moisten it up, thoughts?

I'm loving the video log, its a nice idea. Will be watching your kids with interest as they're just a few days younger than mine.
Also curious, like you, if 20% humidity is ok-ish, ours is the same and I'm struggling to get it higher. I have read of others doing alright with low humidity so perhaps its not the worst thing?

Awesome! We can go through it together!
As far as the humidity goes, I'm thinking its not the worst thing, it just feels like my soil is always dry.

Try and get it up a little, add a swamp cooler, or humidifier. I have to run both to get my humidity over 35%
Looking good so far! Keep em green :weedpoke:
