..I first moved out on my own when I was 21. I had to move back in with mum at 24 for 2 months, then moved back out and am still on my own. Im 25 now, and live in a house on my own. Istill go to college, and smoke a ton of Rx herb. Anyways, I still stop by moms house every week or two to say hi and just, I guess to just see her. Is that odd? Do any of you all go to see your mum usually? I know mine appreciates it!

Yeh of course I do. Not that often as she lives quite a distance away. But I see her whenever I can really. We all owe our parents a lot and I think it's important to show them we appreciate everything they have done for us

i moved out when i was 16, i'm now 45 and even though my mum, sister and 2 brothers only live a 10 minute drive away i only see my mum about once every 8 months and my bros and sister once every 2 years, even though i see very little of my family, they all know that i love them to bits and if they ever need me i will allways be there for them, i feel a little guilty now thinking how little i see them i'm going to phone them all up and remind them how much i love them, they will probaly think i'm drunk LOL

My mom lives in the next town over, only like a 5 or 10 minute drive from here. I visit her a lot. She was a pretty fucked up parent, but its mom. I still like to see her. I was pretty bummed on thanksgiving..me and my cousin went to go see my little sisters and my mom and step dad..my oldest little sister was bratty, and my poor littlest sister was by herself playing video games on the computer because my mom and step dad were passed out in their room.

I proceeded to go home and get really stoned with my cousin, and talked a lot about our fucked up family. I love my mom, but I really hate her sometimes too.

I was never super close with my mom until my dad died. Now were getting there.

I see her every 2 weeks. Just long enough to appreciate her without wanting to kill myself. But we talk on the phone a lot and she sends me cards and other stuff she thinks I will like.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

When I was 8 years old I had witnessed my dad abuse mom all my life. One night they argued and he slapped her. She fell and hit her head on a coffee table, knocking her unconcious. I ran to my parent's room and grabbed my dad's .38 revolver. Ran back to the living room, stuck it to the back of his head as he kneeled over her(I assume checking her out) and cocked it telling him to back away or die.

Idk if it was his fear of dying(because I was DAMN serious! That was Mommy!) or the simple fact that his actions led to his 8 year old son putting a gun to his head, but he left the house for the night and has never laid a hand on her since.

My father and I get along now, but I would say that was my defining moment. The shittiest part is I missed out on all the "kid stuff" from 8 years old on. I was always ready to enforce my promise.

That being said, I think I may have spoiled my son some by making up for my lost childhood.

And yes, I go have coffee with Mom at LEAST twice a week. She's the only reason I still live in this Godforsaken town!

Was very close to my mom and dad. My dad passed away 10 years ago and I still miss him and have an empty place in me where he used to be. My mom is in a world of her own and not able to know who I am. My sister put her in a nursing home and I've given up trying to call her, because she always hangs up on me not realizing who I am (she's on the other side of the country from me, so I can't go to see her very often). It's very sad. I miss her. It's like she's already dead.

Cherish your folks while you can. They can be taken from you in an instant.
