im very confused.

why do they need donations ?

why is the grow classes separate from the regular patient class ?
and also why is there a charge for the class's ?
if you ask for donations, wouldnt that suggest that the donations
would cover the informing the patient of what a patient needs to know ?
otherwise this brings me back to my original question, which is

All orgs need donations. some get federal help some can only survie on donations. Website cost, staff, paper and a printing machine you rent internet service. The list can go on for what donations help pay for!

It's not a charge, a donation and people that can't afford the 50 for two days will still get in. But the class is geared to the people that are not computer savey or have alot of money to spend on all the grow gear. This class offers a DIY mentality. Orientaions are seperate from the horticulture class that would be way to much info for sick people to digest in one sit in. yikes! can you sit for a 6,7 hour lecture? Most sick people I see grumble after a hour.

What I get out of ripac is a place to meet like minded people, share information and learn from others. Make friends, make a community, help it grow. The medical cannabis program is just protection for use, not a right to a endless supply of cannabis. This isnt big pharm ya know;)

hey there, I would def contact JoAnne with thoses questions I can't help ya there. But I can explain a bit about the grow class. Yes I suggest patients that are just staring to grow not to spend so much my original goal was $420 but with extra costs on misc stuff a saftey net of 500 should do. Now it's not buying all that stuff right off the bat. But to think of buying a small veg light first even 4 foot floro work shop lights from Job Lot would work for vegging plants. Then upgrade as you go. So really 20 bucks could start someone growing a couple vegging plants.

some of you guy(s) really need to wisen up...RIPAC, NORML, MMP and others are organizations dedicated to MMJ. If you don't like it, don't join..... I am not a member but if someday I decide to I would not put my foot in my mouth before I actually gave it a chance. Some people think that their MMJ card seperates them from the rest of the marijuana enthusiasts and gives them entitlement to free marijuana???? Where did this view come from? Certainly not from the many states with legal dispensaries and collectives, they actually charge...some upwards of 65 an 8th...and can you believe patients actually go there to buy their medicine. I feel that before anyone bitches or gripes about Organizations, Caregivers or dispensaries they should try growing a few successful crops themselves and fully understand what love, care and time goes into growing the sacred herb.

$50 an ounce???? I assuming you've grown indoors before, right? The amount of time spent on caring for the plant, quality seeds and decent equipement make this figure damn near impossible! Now, an outdoor crop maybe but growing 12 to 24 plants in a perpetual system is a part to full time job.

You don't work for free do you? To do it right with an indoor grow is not easy. Granted it's a weed, but we are cultivating that "weed" to maximum potency which takes a lot of trial and error which cost $$$$$. Personally, I believe that MM should be paid for on a sliding scale to make it cost effective compared to how much a patient takes home$$$. The most it shoud ever be is 200 for the very best!!! And, of course, it should still be dependant upon your income and should come down in price every year until it levels out a price more reasonable 100 to 150.

As far as RIPAC is concerned, just like all businesses, the opportunity for abuse is common so I wouldn't be surprised. Ironically, all non-profits need income, that is a fact of life. Considering it is illegal on the federal level, good luck getting a federal grant...lol.

It is still illegal boys and gilrs, therefore, still a risk. Do you know any free lawyers if you get busted by the DEA or feds??? Again, doubt it.

It is a business Einstien!!!! Run it like one, anticipate future costs, add current cost, plan for future expasion and use that figure to determine your selling price.

Granted, most CG's have not even thought of this formula so I'm not saying you are an idiot! It's that you can't just slap a happy go lucky price on a product. Personally, I forsee the price going down to 50 an oz. in many years. The only way that is going to happen is by going NP first so you can control the market rate. Now WAKE up! Until the STATE subsidizes MMJ to legal patients as a fundamental right to good health under the contitution then we may see that dramitic shift in cost. I am not arguing there arent caregivers giving ounces to their patients for 50 bucks and ounce....wonder how many ounce those 5 patients really take (..and where does the rest go?) and how do you pay you electric, water, rent/lease, nutrient, medium, and any other costs you may incure during the crop. What happens if you have health issues with your plants and they aren't top notch...do you just pass it on because its inferior but hey it's only 50 an ounce...sounds like some 80's mexicani sh*t to me.
