Hi guys and girls :D this is my first ever post here so please bear with me! First a little history, i broke my back 11 years ago when i was 18, been living with the pain ever since. Got introduced to the sweet ganja as medicine by a friend at uni at the time, and have never looked back since.
Anyhoo, i used to get all my greenery's from dealers and the such, although 10 years back i did have 1 single closet grow with a 400w HPS on a bubbler setup, as i recall it was 2 skunk seeds from gypsy nirvana... the grow went ok... temps were way too high (32c) all the time and 2 weeks into flower i managed to screw up the ph (WAY to low after a res change) and killed my girls. boo hoo.
Now a days i'm having real trouble finding any bud, I am the only person i know that actually smokes, so finding connections is always hard, but in the last 2 years i have only been able to score some leaf, and BAD leaf at that (has all bits of plastic through it which i spend hours picking out). Now even my leaf guy has dissapeared. So with me moving out to live on my own in 3 weeks (no more boyfriend, whoops) i made the decision to start another grow for myself, this time better and improved, hopefully!
I'm planning on growing a couple rounds of lowryder and lowryder crosses to start with, just to get the feel of things (and to have some bud QUICK!) then hopefully trying my luck with some afghan kush or something more powerful, recommendations anyone?
Neways im rambling on, here is my plans for my new grow space, just hoping you guys could have a look and see if i'm on the right track over here, any pointers and things i could improve etc would be greatly appreciated! Basically the most important thing to me above all else is STEALTH. i do not want anybody to even think for 1 sec that i'm growing stinky buds in there.
Dimensions of closet (prefab flat pack closet)
800W x 450D x 1800H cms - 0.36 sq/mtr
or
2.6W x 1.5D x 6H ft - 3.75 sq/ft
with this space i figure i need approx
15480 @ 4000k per sq/ft
19350 @ 5000k per sq/ft
Lighting
3 x 4 18w fluro - 3 x fluro @ min 13200k
1 x 90w triband LED 7.1.1. ratio of red, orange, blue - 1 x LED @ min ??k
Exhaust
15cm duct fan @ approx 400CFM. It will be on a dimmer so adjustable.
Odor Control
A 10L carbon scrubber with a mini fridge ozone unit sitting on top (plan on upgrading this if smell is still a problem), which then runs through a length of muffler ducting, which connects to the fan and outside
* I will cover the inside walls with mylar and flat white paint (duno if i have enough mylar :P)
* All intakes, doors, exhausts will be lightproofed
* Hoping the muffler ducting will reduce the sound, also the dimmer
I have actually got a 100w MH and i've still got the old 400w HPS laying around somewhere, but i am really reluctant to use them because of the heat issues involved. Summer is coming up here and it will be in the low 30s even without extra HID heat, so i want to reduce the heat as much as possible without having to run my air conditioner non stop
My plan is to grow organically in soil, over the years i've developed a love for organics and love playing with vegetables and herbs in the garden, i've also got a nice large worm farm and lots of bokashi compost to use as ferts. I saw a organic recipe for soil which was 1/3 each of vermiculite, pearlite, and worm castings, so i was going to use the recipe and just add a bit of bokashi compost to it as well
So does anybody see any holes in my plan? Any advice on the strain? I've spent the last month researching and i think i've almost got everything i need in terms of info and equipment. I'm just waiting for my closet and seeds to arrive and then i will begin building, hopefully they will both arrive early next week :D When it does and the inside is built, i will take some pics ;)
