I have a form of anxiety such as GAD and Social Anxiety. And perhaps a case of ADD...not sure if its from thinking about stuff and getting stressed out which makes it hard for me to get things done.

Anyways, I read that indica is a good strain for people with anxiety. I picked up some joints from my local pharmacy. It was a Indica Lavender Kush.. I took 1 hit and didn't feel anything... I decided to take 2 to 3 more quick hits. Within 3 minutes I was trippppinggggggg... Full blown panic attack, heart beating etc etc. It took a couple hours to ride it out, and still felt awkward the next day.

Back in my early days of college I took a couple hits of MJ for the first time. I didn't know what strain it was. But man it made me feel euphoric and my stomach was relaxed which was great cause I get acid & pains from anxiety. I was good for 2 to 3 days. Another time i took a hit from my roommate and I experienced the same thing I did when I had the indica. Straight trippin.

So now I know Indica is not for me. The question I have is how come I had this reaction to Indica when pretty much articles suggest an indica strain for anxiety etc?

Sativas work okay for me, make me think better..But I do get that head high that can feel a bit strong in the head. I still wonder what strain I smoked the first time in college, because that was the best I ever had. It seems anything dominant in indica will jack me up (panic, anxiety) even if its like 70indica/30 sativa etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to get a relax, feeling good type of buzz? Or what strain may be good for my situation and reaction I mentioned earlier. I want to use it medically and not really to get high or stoned. I just want to feel good and still be there..more or less. The thing is my certificate is about to expire soon, and I would like to give it a real chance. Before I decide to not get it renewed etc. Any information would be helpful to me. Thank you for reading this.

My fiance has the same problem with most smoke. Serious cerebral panic attacks, anxiety, overthinking, trouble breathing etc etc. He quit smoking for a long time cause of it.

Over the past year we've had an opportunity to try many many strains.

Kush, Blueberry, Northern Lights, NLxBubblegum, green crack, orange bud, and a few others in there.

The *only* one that he's been able to smoke is BC Sweet Tooth. We got the seeds from BC Seed King. It *is* an indica though. Everyone that's tried it loves it, it's a very smooth smoke, and a light high, not a couch lock, very relaxed and euphoric without any of that "panic"

Not all Indica's are created equal :D

If I could dude I'd send ya some to try!!

Mannn I don't knowwww... Are you sure about 'not every indica is created equal'? Its tempting but when I read it... its like a General saying "are you boys ready for another tour of Vietnam took kick some ass" - "Hellllll noooooo." haha...

I'm so confuseddddd...That feeling was good though when I had the good stuff..whatever it was.... :(

Too much a Novice didn't even ask what strain it was nor did I know anything about MJ back then...

I hear ya!!

When my fiance started developing anxiety problems after smoking, we started paying more attention to WHAT we were smoking. THen when we had access to a grower that was experimenting with different strains, we got to know even more.

Northern Lights, for example is *the* indica strain... old school... and yet neither of us could smoke it!! It even gave me mild panic problems and trouble breathing if I tried to go to sleep after smoking it.

I really liked Blueberry, another Indica strain, but even that didn't do the trick for my hubby.

Here's something else maybe you can try. Bake it :D make butter, brownies, cookies, whatever. The stone is totally different, more of a body stone than a head stone, and can sometimes reduce anxiety.

Keep trying different strains, you will find one that works! just make sure you know what you're getting. (Like anything I guess lol)

One thing that I've heard through the grapevine is Strawberry Cough is supposed to be one of the best anti-anxiety strains out there, never tried it, haven't gotten my hands on it, but maybe check it out.

My guess is you do not indulge in cannabis for pain treatment. If you have been on break with cannabis for a long time and are coming back, you will probably need to work your tolerance up.

If you havent been smoking/eating cannabis for like, 2-3 weeks, atleast once a day a two, you cant really judge the cannabis now a day as indica or sativa, in my opinion..

Either one will kick your ass if your tolerance is low. You need to try and get your tolerance up and the high will be WAY more comfortable, predictable, and managable and you will be able to feel and understand the sativa or indica properties you are looking for.

If you cannot indulge for a week or so, you might have troubles getting used to the cannabis because your tolerance is so low.
