hello all:)

well i'm currently a soil grower but would like to get n2 hydroponic growing (this scrog thing is really peaking my interests)

i recently got a 12 bucket ebb and flood or flow whatever lol system it came with no instructions or nething got it used.

now i only wanna use 5 of the buckets

problem is i have this giant 55 gallon reservoir and i would like to do weekly changes of water, theres no way i would be able to do this with a reservoir that big

so was wondering if any1 out here knew or had ne suggestions on how i would be able to set this up using a smaller reservoir

like maybe a 10 or 20 gallon reservoir

but definitely the smaller the better

they are 1 gallon buckets that i will be using and again only want to use 5 buckets

ne suggestions or questions would be greatly appreciated

and thanks in advance for any advice

good growing to all :)

Probably a big rubbermaid tote from Walmart would do the trick. Just use it in place of the 55 gal drum. http://www.discount-hydro.com/images/link/EBB-12Instructions.pdf
There are the instructions for the unit. I have same system and am having fun with it so far. Current grow 15 buckets.

ya i got a 35gal container/tote (whatever you call it) from home depot & with my 4x4 tray it worked fine. i did weekly water changes but more as i read & have been practicing lately, it not necessary to do so. i carried 4 5 gal bottles every week down the basement & let me say it was a pain. ;)

hey guys thanks for responding

i still got about 10 wks until i plan on setting this up and then trying some scrog growing
(any threads u guys could recommend on starting this kinda grow would be greatly appreciated):)

i'm in the process of trying to figure which size tote to use as i'm typing this actually lol

started out with a 5 gallon tote which wasnt big enough

i'm assuming the water needs to come up through the hydroton more than 1/2 way up the bucket with both buckets in the water (or is that a good height) cause i would like to go with the smallest reservoir i can

but on to the 10 gallon

that had the water about 3/4 of the way i'm thinking that should be good

i will have clones that will be about 2 or so weeks into veg about the time i'm planning on setting this up

does ne1 see any upcoming problems with this kinda setup

these r the two item that I have & use with no problems. I add 4-5gal bottles(40gal total) in the tote. It fill up to 3/4 of the way up with hydroton in the tray. i beleive i have 250gph pump to fill tray up. but i did notice with no hydroton it only filled up about 1/4 the ways & had issues. I would invest in ph meter & ppm meter, costly at first but it was one of the first things I bought. You'll need temp guage to make sure its not to hot or cold. need a fan to make stock stonger & all ur nuites.

hey budlove

yea i got all that other stuff just currently got the soil grow going but will be starting this one (i'm using the 1 gallon buckets)

just got it all setup and running the 10 gallon tote is working just fine i have it set to flood every 4 hrs

i started out with tap water my tap water is ph'd around 8.5 where i live

i added some ph down (this stuff gets expensive a friend was like use pool ph up and down but i don't think that would b ne good ne suggestions on the matter)

and after the 2nd cycle it was down to 6 - 6.5

after the 3rd cycle it was going back up about 7 - 7.5

any ideas why this might be happening

i rinsed the hydroton really well b4 starting

well thanks guys hope to hear something lol

edit..I'm too high...my response had nothing to do with your OP....rofl so i'll write this one instead. I found a stashed nugget of super kola 20 minutes ago that literally snowed as I pulled it apart. I literally have...well a bunch of cured pot sitting on the floor, but when I found this secret nugget from a bag of great shit, I thought it was Christmas already. I stashed it with good cause apparently it makes me ramble and respond to random posts!

You could be getting a rise in PH from the system itself rinsing out. All new stuff has to be cleaned just like reuse items. With the PH down, are you using liquid or dry?? I started with the liquid but started saying the same thing about cost. I changed over to the dry and it is allot more cost effective but takes a lil bit to get used to, concentrated shit it is. :D

lol great shit pro

but i've been using general hydroponics liquid formula

a friend of mine said try the pool ph down (alot cheaper 7 bucks for a huge container)

but i was looking at the label and it had a danger, poison on it

i don't think thats good lol

or all ph ups and downs poisonous

Well PH down is an acid type product and last time I checked it wasn't very healthy to be ingesting acid, except for one type but that is another website I believe. :wtf:

All are poisonous. Down is Acid and up is alkaline. Pool Ph adjuster is very bad for hydro and taste. The big comercial grows don't want us to know they use sulfuric acid as ph down. That's right battery acid. go to the auto parts store and get some. Better than pool stuff and will last forever it is very strong.

I was thinking about a setup like on Gilligan's Island.

Wires hanging in the rez charging the radio batteries and running the lights. Always considered myself kind of like the professor. LOL

Now if I could just get Ginger and MaryAnne to smoke some of this sruff.

I've done the ebb but I went back to my bubble jugs. They are more work but not much. From start to finish I can be smokin in 10 - 12 weeks. I get a good harvest every month.

Hydrolysis to control pH is quite possible, my friend. :)
