Sadly the Proposition to legalize cannabis as many feared did not pass. However, this proposition has made great headway and I believe we are still on track. Those of you who thought that legalization was actually about to happen are surely upset that it did not pass but this country is built by wealth and this time the wealth was on the other side.
With glaring clarity cannabis has been proven to be a legitimate medicine and an invaluable fiber. Undoubtedly people also are realizing that the United States is sinking into an abysmal debt.
I believe the efforts to end the prohibition of Cannabis are not only on track, they are ahead of schedule. Prop 19 contained some bad legislation and would have been most beneficial to everyday users and large corporations. Since it has not passed we are given more time to determine how best to progress. The amount of visibility this proposition provided for cannabis across the country was priceless and I feel that a much larger portion of the population is becoming educated on the matter. I envision the following.
* In 3-5 years we will have federal legalization for medicinal use
* In 3-5 years we also will see the decriminalization of small amounts of cannabis
* In 5-10 years we will see the legalization of hemp (the non psychoactive male cannabis plant used for fiber)
I see great things in the future for cannabis and those who continue to support its integration into the United States economy.
Thank you everyone for your efforts and do not give up hope. We are still working towards the same goal and we have not seen a loss yet.

Well I guess 19's Taxation and regulation didn't win.
But I hope the above vision is realized. But no matter how you slice it 19 running was good enough to get people to wake up.
Hopefully Hemp does become legal for Industrial use.
Hopefully Next "legalization" effort wont include ridiculous Tax
Hopefully Now that dispensaries had to sweat a bit, they will lower their prices
Hopefully we get a no criminalization law for Marijuana possession without a script, a Infraction would be nice lol
Hopefully we will continue to grow as a sub culture and earn the title of respectable medicine that Marijuana truly is.
No matter who thinks those of us who voted no were against you, we were all fighting for the same goal. True Legalization even under Federal law and recognition for Marijuana as a legit medicine.
I just hope the Next bill they try to pass is a lot less corrupt or once again I'll be fighting to keep it with the people not Industrialized...

Actually, YES on 19 outspent the opposition by more than 10x. I don't really think this was a money problem...

That's pretty damn optimistic. I see things only getting worse at the federal level; do you really think the new teabaggers in congress will support any of this?
This really needs to happen with a careful and measured state law that inspires other states to follow, in opposition to federal law. Federal law will simply go unenforced for a while, and then eventually, someday, repealed. This has to be a bottom up change.
Prop 19 was just about perfect and the best chance that's going to come along in a good while was just wasted. This is the fault of moralizers, the uninformed masses, and those waiting for the "perfect" proposition to come along, waiting to legalize nationally all at once (not gunna happen), or who selfishly wanted to maintain their profits under the current system.
This is a very sad result...

I'm an optimistic person.Idk about calling prop 19 nearly perfect but, ya I agree with some of the things you stated. But ideally to Tax and regulate under state government means to pretty much Make the people pay while the state uses the money to keep the rich up and the average person down. This all boils down to money, and if you think the dispensaries ,who yes do charge ridiculous prices sometimes all for their own gain are worst than the state who mis-use Millions and millions of tax money every year; the lie to us about it and say we need more tax to fix it than wow...
I'd rather leave it to the people. We can control the prices all you have to do is start growing your own if your a medical patient. Doesn't have to be anything big I'm not saying go spend 3000+ on a set up. But you can grow 2-3 plants on 400 wats VERY well without breaking the bank then come harvest you don't have to depend on dispensaries so much. Now granted some people cant grow like the Little old lady I grow Romulan for or my good friend who tats me for meds to kill his severe back pain. But If I found it in my heart even though I own delivery service and plan to open a Dispensary to grow for those who can't and truly help people I don't see why others don't/Can't. Just think if every Dispensary and grower just pitched in an Ounce for someone who truly Can't afford Medicine. Just my 2 cents. Its pretty much legal as it is all that's required is you get a card. If you don't want to be in the data base legally, then hey that's your problem.

I understand where you're coming from, but not all of us can choose to live wherever we want. I, for example, live in a state without even legal medical access to cannabis. People around the world cared about the progress that would have been made by the passage of prop 19 in California. Not all of us can just choose to get ourselves a card and start growing. People can still go to jail for possession of less than an ounce where I live...
Also, the "tax" prop 19 allowed for was simply a sales tax. You could still grow and share without paying anything. In most states, you'll pay a sales tax of just about anything: beer, milk, etc. Having a heavier sales tax on pot seems like a non-issue when compared with people's basic freedoms.
This is the country that was founded on the principals of people like Thomas Paine who said "Give me liberty or give me death". Liberty has no meaning nowadays. We're a country of moralizers, and at best people of practical concern. In this case fueled by ignorance. So many people are willing to compromise their basic freedoms of self governance in the name of practical benefits. Truly sad.

Then do something about it and quit whining. Why is it everyone in an illegal state feels the need to coach CA on how to vote? If you want MMJ try to get it on the ballot in you're state. If you just want to smoke pot instead of drinking alchohol, try to get legalization on you're ballot. But don't bitch about CA doing whats right for CA. I for one am glad to see this pile of shit fail miserably and I don't even live there. This just gave us some more time before the government takes over mj, then you fools will be smoking schwag joints in marlboro wrappers rejoicing about how its all legal now. Grow a pair.

Of coarse it will include a tax ALL vices are taxed, its called a sin tax!
Why dont you lead the charge in lowering your prices...didnt think so!
Im starting to become bitter towards the mmj crowd. Its a rip off, mmj in Canada ranges from 150-160 oz. Where is all that money going Cali?(not taxes)
Eh from the way mmj laws are starting to shape in states lucky enough to have them i dont see it being around long anyway. Just ask New Jersey, worst mmj law ever! Washington States isnt much better.

Alienate the under 21 crowd (what Prop19 did) and limit quantities of what should have never been "illegal" in the first place is a winning proposition? Not hardly. How many cases of beer or WINE am I limited to?
When does a US citizen start paying SS taxes? ON THEIR FIRST CHECK STUB even if they are 13. Like when I was a paper boy.
How old does a man or woman have to be to DIE for this county in armed service? Eighteen WITHOUT parental approval.
So you have service folks across the pond and here at home ready to die for you and you really think those freedoms and rights are defined by age and they (military) don't merit?
That is what you said when you approved this measure; under 21 ADULTS DON'T COUNT. The oppressors relish this internal fight (divide and conquer) and you played right into their hands.
Maybe you aught to put the pipe down.
Enjoy the loss..now even Oblahblah won't be able to rein in the Feds.

We got you the first time.
19 was intended to be passable. There's no way people would vote to lower the drinking age these days. The idea was to make weed like alcohol.

My prices are low,I charge 10-100 cheaper than most Dispensaries already. I plan on getting even lower come 2011 when I open my Dispensary because I'll have more customers coming in. This might allow me to lower my prices to compensate for slower customer base I have now. Like I said I do this because I like growing and helping people, not to become a millionaire... tsshhh I'm not even a half a 1/4thanaire lol, hell I'd be happy with 100k in the bank but I'm not that close either... Not all the MMJ crowd is about money, there are those of us that do it just because we like to. Think about this. Whats the cost of living HERE in Cali? ok... and whats the cost of living in Canada?... hmmm so u want us to grow and cure, distribute for $5? come on bro we gotta least be able to pay Southern California Edison's high ass electricity bills... Unless you wanna buy me solar panels =) then I'll drop to 150 oz ^^
You know as well as I do the cost of EVERYTHING here is high, we gotta eat too. I just try to make enough to support my Bizz, pay my Bills and go fishing every now and then; that's it.
Now as far as those LA and Mid Cal bastards who WAY over charge, go preach to them about their 300+ OZ stuff. I would never charge that much for a Oz no matter what it was. I'll let you know right now Skywalker is a HIGH yield-er and grows like a freaken wildfire all my SW mothers are pretty young still and are already 5 feet tall; there is no reason to charge over 300 and oz when that plant puts out like it does(One 3ft I grew kicked out 3.3oz solo). Same goes for a lot of strains that yield good who's prices are super high. Now I can see like Vortex being a little high as it takes a while to grow and its potent as hell, or Bubba kush which is average yielding and kinda finicky(like a needy Girlfriend lol). But still not worth 300, tsshhh not 290 either... Ideally no bag should really be over 220oz, that makes for a decent living without raping patients, Least in Cali... I'll be at the 180-200 mark here real soon, so yes in a way I will be starting the trend of dropping prices. They are high, we can fix it, just going to take a few people and time. Kinda gotta agree with this. Why should Cali be the rest of the worlds Lab Rat? What we should mess up our current laws for the experimental Tax an REGULATION laws of the Gov? Umm I think not, I'm very sorry your state doesn't have MMJ, I wish you could move here. But if you really want change make it happen for your state. If the law passed and it messed everything up and got industrialized would you come help us out? Would you come pay more of my already high ass taxes? You can speak about something you don't experience because you don't live here.Bro we have so many Taxes I cant even keep up with them, sales, state, alcohol, property, blah, blah ,blah, damn now you want to Tax my Marijuana? No...
Stay here 21 years and watch how California acts and the next time they try to further Tax and Regulate you, I promise you'll vote No for any gov interference.
If the bill stated even one time "Marijuana will be LEGAL in the state of California under federal law...blah blah" Then you bet your sweet ass I would have Voted Yes and been out there with a big green leaf painted on my chest everyday. But The law was severely corrupted, I'm not waiting for a perfect law, just a fair one. I can go die for my country but cant have a drink or smoke for my stress... wow... what can I do?
Now come 2012 I hope the next prop will actually make it legal, and not be so restricting, then yes, I would gladly pay taxes on it and that would truly start the Legalize movement for West. Amstradam's Just waiting on us, but we just need to make a fair bill that respects the Culture while helping our deficit.
Legalization isn't the same as Regulation... Think...

Dont be so nearsighted, money has been spent to demonize cannabis since 1930 when Anslinger became the director of the newest Federal department - The Federal Bureau of Narcotics.
So much money has been poured in that we have not scratched the surface in combativeness.

Three of my friends were smoking a doob in a car on the property of a family member of one of them. A cop rolled up, went on the property, busted out his flashlight.
They all got arrested. The two that had drivers licenses were slapped with 1yr suspensions (on the DLs) and all of them got 1yr of probation. They were also held overnight in the jail.
This was in my home town a couple years ago. The town is very small, only a few thousand, yet is the county seat. That's how small this place is, and they don't mess around.
To all of you lucky ducks who can actually grow with cards, the very thought that such a place exists makes me happy so keep it up and be happy !
