Can't trust American voters to vote in their own self interest. At least its still medical and we can't give up because prohibition is one big fucking lie that needs to end. :(

I'm stunned that a society refuses to vote itself one little fucking freedom. Its surely a sign that the society is whipped like fucking dogs and it deserves all the abuse it gets from their elected officials. :wtf:

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fearā??fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, fear of getting down-sized or fired because of the plunging economy, fear of getting evicted for bad debts or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer."
- Hunter S. Thompson.
Wonder what HE would think about this.
This probably set back nation wide legalization 10 years.

It is disappointing, but just having a prop on the ballet is historical and the nay vote was not overwhelming. In the end, I think the issue wasn't whether to legalize cannabis, but rather how to legalize it. I wanted to see this pass, however, I acknowledge that the prop was poorly written and slanted towards big growers. I'm not surprised that mom and pop operations voted against it to protect their own interests.
This whole vote has created a nation-wide debate that carries much more legitimacy than ever before. The stage is set for a new prop on the 2012 ballot . . . maybe next time by more states that just California.
In the meantime, I'm moving to Holland. (I wish)

Heh, I don't know if I'm a free liberal hippie, but you are correct that I'd hate to see the livelihood of regular folks destroyed by big business. I'm old and jaded enough to believe that is the ultimate fate of cannabis regardless of how a bill is written.
I think most folks just wanted a state to legalize. Everyone is so sick of the national farce of the war on cannabis.
I had a dream that California would pass this, the tax revenue would bail out the government, and ultimately begin a domino effect just as with medical cannabis. I knew in my heart that was naive of me.
Most of us are just tired of waiting.

:D Anybody want to smoke a joint and celebrate this morning? I'm gonna roll up some of this DANK Afghan Kush I grew from a clone as a med patient and thank the majority of CA for not being sheep and listening to norml's bullshit. This has somewhat restored my faith in the people, they actually read the bill and realized they were getting the wool pulled over their eyes all in the name of "legalization". Thats not legalization, thats a bunch of bullshit laws so they can stick it in you and break it off. Try, just TRY to think outside of the box for once gypski tweaker.

Hey ewe, I'll wager you have never been busted nor had your life fucked up over a marijuana charge. So, you go ahead and live in the box you think your thinking outside of. And when they come and haul your ass off to jail, you will know exactly who to blame. Your dumb stupid self. And I left that last line polite.

Young grasshopoper, I'm probably twice your juvenile fucking age. And have been busted more times then you. So, when they come and get you again, your good lawyer is going to take all your profits, and you can hang with the gangbangers in San Quentin whose blackmarket you now support.

You're right, you used your right to think only of yourself. I hope your neighbor when he gets busted remembers you for that, and comes over and thanks you for it. You have a nice day too. Allow me to enlighten you. Benjamin franklin once said, (paraphrase) those who will give up freedom for a modicum of security deserve neither.
And rest assured, your excuse for failure to even cast a vote for a small iota of freedom and then fix an, as you say, poorly written law, will come back to bit you on the ass. :twocents:

Its shaping up that it seems its the medical people and those who grow for them who helped defeat freedom of choice. I wonder when they look at their neighbor, who just wants to be able to smoke a joint in their home after work to relax, will they think they just threw him to the dogs to protect their freedom, and denied him his? I surely doubt it in this self centered world. :twocents:

maybe your attitude should be more grateful to the voters/residents of California for forging the way for medical MJ...since WE passed the first medical laws of cannabis 13 other states have medical allowances and it is growing.....the law needs to be written better instead of just passing legislation and dealing with the aftermath...we have legal MJ so why would we pass a law more restrictive than the current ones we have on the books....and truly do you think if this really passed the feds would have it tied up in court and would be repealed due to its contradiction of federal law...so what we really did is save taxpayers alot of money in legal costs...if cannabis will ever be truly legal for everyone it must be done at the federal level...then states can vote laws on how to control and tax it...just the same as alcohol

In Arizona, voters are narrowly against Proposition 203, the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, which would permit state-registered patients to obtain cannabis legally from licensed facilities. As of 9am pst, the race still remains too close to call, though Prop. 203 is trailing by less than 7,000 votes, 49.7 percent to 50.3 percent (with 99 percent of precincts reporting). With some 50,000 ballots left to be counted, it could be days before election officials make an official decision, reports the Phoenix New Times. The proposal is sponsored by the Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project, an affiliate of the Marijuana Policy Project. Learn more about Proposition 203 here: Welcome! | Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project (http://stoparrestingpatients.org/home/).
In South Dakota, voters decided against Measure 13, the South Dakota Safe Access Act, which sought to exempt state criminal penalties for state-authorized patients who possessed marijuana. South Dakota voters had previously rejected a similar proposal in 2006. It is the only state where voters have ever decided against a medical marijuana legalization initiative.
In Oregon, voters decided against Measure 74, The Oregon Regulate Medical Marijuana Supply System Act of 2010, which sought to create state-licensed not-for-profit facilities to assist in the production and distribution of marijuana to qualified patients. Oregon voters initially authorized the physician-authorized use of marijuana in 1998. Several states, including Colorado, New Mexico, and Maine, have enacted statewide regulations licensing the production and dispensing of medical cannabis.
...
Finally, in Massachusetts, voters in over 70 cities and towns decided favorably on non-binding public policy questions regarding the taxation of the adult use of marijuana and the legalization of the physician-supervised use of medical cannabis. Approximately 13 percent of the stateā??s registered voters weighed in on the questions.
